I now understand what you were talking about with Deftones on how people think they got lighter and less aggressive. Even though Diamond Eyes was heavy in terms of guitars, the vocals were not. Same as Koi No Yokan. The band hasn't been the same since Around the Fur in terms of aggression.
Even the guitarist said he wasn't fond of making their new album, so we'll see how it is.
The first season of Higurashi seems to be the most enjoyable one.

You're talking about that side project which has Isis and Chino in it, right? Sounds like what A Perfect Circle was to Tool in my opinion.
I don't hate it, though I'm not in any rush to listen to it.
That doesn't mean I think Around the Fur is their best album, though in terms of aggression and heaviness, it and Adrenaline are louder.
It's hard to say what my favorite Deftones album is because I tend to find for me every CD has some songs which I don't like as much as others, though I can say that about pretty much every single band out there.
At least they have not made a CD which I think is plain bad, which I respect.
I'm not really into the new 2 songs maybe I'll change my thoughts on them later on.
