I love the lemon and Pikmin sprites! Really love that attention to detail, especially the dots on the lemon, the shading, the Rock Pikmin tucked away in the front, and that you show that there's Pikmin on the other side by showing those red Pikmin's legs! ^-^
Wait, so that WAS a thing that happened! =O I couldn't tell what was really going on when my Pikmin was shaking around like he was trying to pick something up and get eaten by an invisible bug at the same time. I also love that expression on him! XDDD Even though blue ones do have those mouths, it just looks like he's going "Aaaaaah!!!Β βββ" while jittering like he ate a cellphone that's currently vibrating inside him.
As for Pikmin games, I'd say the second one is still my favorite. ^^ I much preferred being allowed to explore the game and find treasures then gather fruit and starve. =O Though, it was more realistic and beautiful I suppose, but the inner adventurer in me prefers taking his time in finding stuff. I always played the second one on the Game Cube... (beat it 3 times XD) I never could get the Wii one to work so well or be as accurate as when I'm tossing the Pikmin with a Game Cube controller. =/
What do you think of Pikmin, by the way? Are you a fan of the series or simply like it? ^^
You uh... don't mind these comments to be so long, do you? Don't worry, I'm not expecting yours to be really long, it's just that I have a tendency of over-explaining stuff and adding too much (sometimes unnecessary) information.

Don't worry about lengthy comments, really. ^^ It's fine.
I just updated the animation, I had a slightly longer version that I never uploaded.
I really love Pikmin. I've played the first two games countless times. And the third is great as well! There's something about them, that you can always play them again, even if you already know everything from memory.
I really hope they finish Pikmin 4 soon...

This happens in the first game too. They made it work for the 2nd game, but the object had to stop every time a new pikmin wanted to latch on. Pikmin 3's version of this glitch is slightly more fixed than Pikmin 1's walking around glitch because the pikmin try to actually follow a circular path around the object instead of rubbing against the side of it and getting no where. You can also see clearly where an open spot is for a pikmin to latch onto in Pikmin 3, so you can toss a pikmin there and they'll latch on instantly, however in the first game the pikmin will still try rubbing around the entire object before deciding to latch on.

I often try to throw them closer to the open slot but then they still somehow manage to walk around the other way sometimes.
They should've just made it so the Pikmin get teleported to an open spot as soon as they touch the object.
I mean they already get teleported into your hand when you throw them (unless they are too far away, which can get annoying if you're standing still and the remaining Pikmin don't walk closer to you when the closer ones have already been thrown...) so having them teleport that tiny distance wouldn't look too bad.
OR they could make it so pikmin that are walking to an open spot don't have a collision hitbox anymore, so they can just walk through the object and through other objects or walls that might be in the way.
Actually, in Pikmin 2 the object only slows down for a second while a pikmin is doing its grabbing animation, not when it walks to an open spot. So it's more of a visual flourish than a technical necessity. (Or it was meant to let other pikmin get to a slot. Either way, it works great).
I don't recall a Pikmin ever not reaching it's spot in P2.
In Pikmin 3 you can't even throw more Pikmin to increase the chance that one of them makes it to an open slot, cuz as soon as a Pikmin has targeted a slot, that slot counts as occupied, even if the pikmin can't reach it.
So if 2 slots are open and you throw 5 pikmin, three of them will just not react, while the 2 others might get stuck.
Even when I disband and entire 100 Pikmin squad around a fruit, some of them STILL manage to have trouble grabbing on.
(For some reason they run around the fruit a couple of times, even though all the spots are empty.
In Pikmin 2 you could just swarm an object, and all Pikmin that touched it would try to grab on, and if the object was fully manned (or pikmanned, I guessΒ Β ) the remaining ones would simply go back into your squad, even if they also tried to grab on.
For some reason that sometimes works in Pikmin 1 and other times they just stand in place instead.
It's a shame because Pikmin 3 already came so close to having the perfect Pikmin engine. It just has 2 problems:
1) This bug
2) The lack of the swarming mechanic
If those 2 things get fixed in Pikmin 4 I'll be so happy.
Well, I'd also be glad if they didn't make bud pikmin obsolete anymore but that's a different story.
