I like the Ski Goggles photo. It gives me a feeling of a 'post-apocalyptic' gathering of todays youth. I could probably explain that better given time. Anyway, great photo

That being said, they both portray the same feeling now I've had a second look (to me at least). I do write but mostly children's stories. I'll give it a shot though.
The survivors of the apocalypse would meet at that baron desert place. Away from the reminders of the destruction that had passed, and away from the old society. They would meet without pre-conceptions, without idea's of what's expected of them. They would simply meet for a deep need of togetherness, and of survival. This was the new world, a new society.

Mission accomplished, I shared my writing on both images with links to the other, and also added a link to yourself as a thank you for pushing me to do some writing. I spend more time illustrating at the moment but I should continue writing. I've added a link to one of my poems in order to ask your opinion.
