Description
On a cold, rainy day, Applebloom finds herself standing with her family on the all-too-familiar little hill behind the farm that she visits with them every year. She asks herself what she’s doing here, she can hardly even remember their faces…On the way back, she trots a good bit behind the others, feeling estranged by the fact that she can’t really feel sadness anymore on this particular day, for this particular event. It has become routine…
Suddenly a distant voice calls out to her. She turns around to find a green earth pony standing back there, on top of the hill.
Her heart jumps in her chest. She thought she couldn’t remember, but she instantly knows who it is.
A whisper eludes her lips. “Mom?”
She starts running, crying, thinking it shouldn’t be possible, but it is and oh how she missed her, she now realizes.
Shouting “MOM!” she falls into the green pony’s embrace and openly weeps, letting her feelings get the better of her. For a while she just stands there and sobs.
Meanwhile Applejack realizes that Applebloom isn’t behind them anymore…

A little something to get into the mood for Halloween.
Tried to capture that feeling of something moving beneath the skin. Or eyeball in this case.
Also a little bit of headcanon that the Apple family are making their cider after Aj’s mom’s recipe. (I guess she’d be called “Apple Cider”?)
Someone made a very good point when they asked “How the hell do the Necropolis changelings know what the dead relatives looked like?” Creepy…

I have a theory for how those from the necropolis hive can change into the dead. My theory is that they have strange psychic abilities, one of which is basic mind reading. When people mourning at a grave sight, what are they think of? Their lost loved ones. They can get an image of the dead loved one from the memories of their victims. Over exposure to the mind reading can weaken the victim's mental state. the more often the victims visit them, and the more their psychi fractures from the mind reading, the further the changeling can reach into the memories of the victim. While Applebloom couldn't remember her mother, applejack and Big Mac could and the changeling simply looked into their minds. It probably originally wanted to go for one of them (seeing as they would have a deeper emotional bond with their mother) or maybe all three, but since the other two had left already, it settled for naive applebloom.

I've been reading about the different types of changelings, and I have been thinking about the Necropolis changelings. It might be possible for them to be disguised as the same pony long enough for them to establish feelings for their victim. Hey, I said POSSIBLE.

And then she takes Applebloom with her. And takes her to the Hive. Then she undisguises herself and looks deep in the little Fillys Mind with those red menacing Eyes. Creating images in her head of the dead of her mother over and over again. While she is struck by terror and fear, unable to move, the Necropolis Queen takes Appleblooms body and buries her alive.

Me parece más creíble que los changelings, cuando cambian de aspecto, lo hacen reflejando parte de los recuerdos de los otros; es básicamente un conjuro que les hace cambiar su cuerpo y mostrar lo que el objetivo quiere ver, aun cuando esto yazca en lo más profundo de su mente inconsciente. En el caso de los changelins de la colmena Necropolis,reflejan la imagen del difunto que sus familiares quieren ver, porque ante su tumba los recuerdos de esa persona afloran; en el caso de la colmena de Chrysalis ella hace lo mismo al desaparecer Cadence y que Shyning piense en ella, sus súbditos toman la forma de las Mane 6 durante la batalla porque cada una quería tener a sus amigas a su lado en la batalla y pensaba en ellas en ese momento, su seguridad y demás, por lo que ellos reflejaron esas imágenes.
