Merrick was out of his element.
The idea of "competing" was already too much for young Merrick to handle. Of course he threw a fit when his slimy pal signed him up for the tournament against his will. Of course he tried everything in his power to get out of the situation, with no avail. "You don't have ten berries with which to quit," they said, as Merrick quietly nodded and shoved his hands in his pockets. This was not going to be good at all.
Or so he thought.
In actually, it was going to be much, much worse.
There came the question of what kind of competition to have. Merrick and Seirei looked at Arwen and Fallon, eyeing their enemies with intrigue. With the flip of a coin, the boys got to pick what kind of setting they would have.
"Pff. Ice skating rink."
It was just a joke, Seirei said. He didn't mean it, Seirei said. But, an ice rink is what the judges heard, and an ice rink was what the two would duel each other in.
That meant ice skating.
Merrick, already not a graceful soul, was definitely much less graceful on the ice. Skating was not his thing, nor did he ever want it to be. Seirei had to DRAG HIM on the ice to even practice, but practice they did! Seirei wouldn't take this joke for a loss, and Merrick couldn't be bothered to fight Seirei's stupidity anymore.

The two laced up their shoes, matching bedazzled outfits aglow, game faces on. Merrick had never felt more determined in his life. They were 100% in this to win it. Somehow, Seirei's motivation got into him, and even he was ready for this (after all, at least his outfit wasn't as ridiculous as Seirei's. How did that guy even fit in such a radical piece!?) They both slid onto the ice and began gliding along, their skates in sync, eyes set on the price. Tactic Plan A: Distract the girls with some impressive figureskating. The girls could only stand at the side and watch as Merrick and Seirei united, Merrick's arm lifting Seirei up and carrying the other majestically, the two both feeling weightlessness for just a moment, just a perfect moment of electricity in Merrick's eyes surging through his body, a moment of perfection. A moment of distraction as Seirei's dazzling gleam and firey hidden power overwhelmed all in sight.
But only a moment.
Merrick's arms buckled as he dropped Seirei, the two falling violently on the ice with loud, matching groans.
Merrick was definitely out of his element.

First of all, I am so sorry for all of your eyes.

Oh wow this was so much fun! We just wanted to have a funny, lighthearted entry! The actual idea of this piece ended up coming up as a joke on accident and stuck. Thanks to MAPle-Treason for such wonderful lineart! Best of luck to all the other competitors (especially GreenTreesAndHam and Wiree - you guys were great to draw and really nice!
