Description ~on tumblr~ ~on pixiv~ ~on twitter~

Revolutionary Girl Utena aired on the 2nd of April 1997, 20 years ago today!
I finished rewatching the entire series a couple of days ago as well... It really is a masterpiece and the story and characters mean a hell of a lot to me. I actually set up a tumblr sideblog recently to post my analysis of the series (when I can be bothered to organise my notes into coherent paragraphs) so feel free to follow chigusasanjouin.tumblr.com/ if that interests you!

Ah I loved that Series, is so amazing wish they made more shows like that, and even with the low budged of production they told a very intense story, the use of symbolism and and the little comedic moments its choice of musical themes and lyrics I is really charged with deep stuff. anyway niice artwork lovely colours!

Ahh thankyou!!
Yess, I feel like Utena did amazingly with it's low budget! The use of the soundtrack and the really stylized and artistic composition of each shot made it completely enthralling even when there wasn't a lot of animation going on. And the story is so complex and interesting that you notice something new every time you watch it!

That backgrop is stunning. I am so impressed with the fiery sky and the rising ridges of the backdrop. It gives it a strong feeling of descent and the jagged edges suggest war-torn chaos. You express themes well.

ahhh thankyou so much!! I'm glad you like the background because it was really fun to paint yeah, the destruction of order into chaos is one of the themes in the series so I'm glad that came accross.
