All the way back in the 1980s, long before Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity were even born, their moms were best friends who were very close to each other. They all even used to go to the same school - Canterlot High School! These designs are from back when they were sophomores.
Cloudy Quartz, the mother of Pinkie Pie, was fond of rock music, but she was a rebel who would sometimes cause consequences to happen. Her favorite hobby was rock collecting, and she would throw them to anyone's face if they got her on the wrong side. In some cases, it caused for the attacked students to get injuries, and because of this, Cloudy Quartz almost got expelled until she left the habbit of attacking students with rocks. However, that didn't stop her from continuing collecting rocks, and it led her to meeting Igneous Rock Pie, her future husband.
Windy Whistles, the mother of Rainbow Dash, was fond of sports. Her favorite type of sport was jogging. She was getting perfect grades at PE, and she was even a captain of a cheerleading team. By personality, she was cheerful, outgoing and caring.
Mrs. Shy, the mother of Fluttershy, was a hippie girl. Ever since she was a child, she was fond of flowers, and she even got her cutie mark after taking care of her first three flower bushes. And even though the hippie culture was already out of fashion by the time Mrs. Shy started high school, she still thought that becoming a hippie will only raise attention related to flowers, and so she became one. However, she started to get hate due to the fact that hippies are believed to be rebellious and homeless, but it didn't stop Mrs. Shy from getting some good friends who were always there whenever she got in trouble.
Pear Butter, the mother of Applejack, was a farmer for the Pear Family business. On the inside, she was a regular teenager, but, due to the family business run by her father, Grand Pear, she rarely had enough time for her own interests besides hanging out with her boyfriend and future husband, Bright Mac. He was a member of the Apple Family, and lived in the Sweet Apple Acres with his mother, Granny Smith. Despite the romantic relationship of the two being healthy and strong, their families were in feud, and their parents didn't allow them to date each other. Because of this, they only publicly spent time with each other at school.
Cookie Crumbles, the mother of Rarity, was one of the richest students at school. She was wearing jewelry and red dresses only to show her wealth, but despite seeming snooty, she was actually a very good friend. She loved learning to cook, and collected jewelry and gems, which explains why her older daughter, Rarity, adores gems, fashion and everything related to them.
Now, they're all proud mothers of lovely children, and they're currently doing okay... Well, not all of them: one of them is resting in peace.
