Description fumus digitalis - digital smoke

the movie Tron and the game Tron 2.0 were an inspiration for the "lighting" of this piece

*edit* alternative title (thanks *alyn for hinting the name and ~kavirin for hinting the Latin word for butterfly): papilio digitalis - digital butterfly

Uiii.

Echt beeindruckend!

oh wow...this is gorgoues.
its almost like an ink painting.
i love it
and yes the resemblance to a butterfly is pretty accurate...there is definitely movement in this visual!

ok mel was right to check out your stuff. I guess from al I like this one most ... its a fight between random loss of shapes and creation itself. lovely piece.

Nice work. The curves and shapes are wonderful as is the colour. My only problems are that in some places it looks a little less smooth and more pixelated, and that it inverts when it crosses the border. Other than those two things this is a stunning piece.

i'd buy a print of this in a second ... but only if you promised to fix the border and make it completely black instead of it turning blue where the "smoke" overlaps....

sheesh.
this is digital?
reminds me some of the ink on acetate textures i created.
if you're curious about what they look like, i just happen to have one of them
as my webcam pimping the stock account i'm part of.
but anyway,...this is excellant man.
really like it alot!

Zilla- [2004-02-23 12:34:49 +0000 UTC]

also really great
Good: the wispy smoky feeling of the smoke and all the lil effects like how it gets darker where it overlaps
i-dont-like-to-use-the-word-bad-but-it-i s-similar-to-to: once again i think that if there were different colors it would look better

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

siebenzehn In reply to Zilla- [2004-02-23 14:08:24 +0000 UTC]

feel free to color it as you like : open it in PS, make a new white layer above it, set it to hue, do a color overlay, also set to hue, and control the coloring with the color and the intensity

this is really neat! what program did you use to make this?

I think butterfly in latin is papilio. But I'm not 100% sure.

siebenzehn In reply to kavirin [2004-02-21 23:56:20 +0000 UTC]

the base render was done is Chaoscope , the rest in PS

thanks for the suggestion, it's correct, it's easier to look up a Latin term, there are not many English/German-to-Latin-dictionairies/tr anslators out there

Smoke or render?

siebenzehn In reply to raun [2004-02-22 17:38:01 +0000 UTC]

well, since it's on photo.net, I guess it's a photo

but I would've said it's a render, these sharp lines and so... interesting how similar (in a certain way) this looks to my pic
