Professor Dumbledore is clearly thinking "In black and white I look Good, but in purple I would be RAVISHING" (one must admit that my very favourite mental image of Professor Dumbledore is based on that little flashback to his first meeting with Tom Riddle and the revelation that the Good Professor was quite the dandy in his younger days).
