Yeah I think its fantastic that you where able to create this kind of light composition for a picture you regard as a tech trial. A lot of artists go through their paces and learn the techniques but most dont have that it factor that lets them combine what they've learned into one picture. That's definitely not an issue for you. Heres hoping you get into animation.

Sadly I don't have a system nearly powerful enough to animate things at this level, though I've got a few very short animation loops around with a simpler render engine
