Description
Another still life from one of my college drawing classes a couple years back. This one's a bust of Dante Alighieri (author of "The Divine Comedy") with some cloth draped over it.Black and white Prismacolor pencils on gray Canson paper.

May I ask why there are blue pencil tints in the drawing? Does that make the sharp accents look more realistic, or is that a special technique?

Jeez. This picture is mesmerizing. I love how the paper makes the appearance of a metallic finish and the white utensil accentuates the points of light. Very nicely drawn.

Well, I did work a bit at it to learn how to draw this well. I tell you what, the first time I used sighting sticks was incredibly awkward. And I got so sick of doing still lives, which is why I was so glad when we started doing busts. Now I mainly draw just from figures. They're boring, but I miss doing still lives sometimes.
