how do you get the characters to look conpletely accurate to their actual designs? cause most covers have the characters looking nothing like their designs, do you read the books?

I've read some of the books, but mostly I just do a research on the character (reading wiki, browsing fanarts, trying to grasp character's backstory and personality traits as well as overall mood of the book).
