I admit...I have seen some changes. It could be that technology allows for more crisp lines, brighter sharper colors...and stuff like that. I mean The orginal SailorMoon sure sucked when it came to art if you compare with Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (OH YES I WENT THERE!). I think a real difference is noticeable when you compare different sagas of the same series...(like Bleach, Slayers, Evangelion vs Evangelion Movie, blah blah). Could be many factor to the change..

I've never seen anyone do such nice work on ms paint. it really seems a shame to use it even with those results...kinda like using crayola crayons to do a picaso.
but I agree, I think anime, like all animation has been changing and in most cases improving over the years. look back at the old astro boy and robotech cartoons and they look quite a bit different then anime now. i think now they've got more detail, definately they've learned the value of shading. and in many cases they've also started slipping computer animation in, much more seamlessly IMO then a lot of american animation.

i've used the paint program LONG before i started using photoshop or any advanced program, which is relatively recent...
well yes the style's change is mostly good... but i still somehow miss the look of early '90s anime a bit, or the rugged rawness of tezuka's even earlier anime (as u said, astroboy)... that's why i like Miyazaki, b/c the Ghibli style is still comparatively oldschool...i will have to write a note on this...

anime doesn't change so much as each person who does it has a different way of doing it. I got into anime through pokemon(oh, the agony!), and pokemon still looks almost exactly the same now as it did then.

right. haha.... but i'm hard pressed to consider pokemon anime (>_O) but the OVERALL mainstream popular look now leans toward a slightly less rounded look, witha a little more edge and sharper shapes.

I kinda like it that way, but I will admit that I know what you mean. A lot of the new animes look like that. And it is hard to look at pokemon as anime ^ ^;; I was nine when I got into it, though, and back then I thought it was the best thing ever.
