Long absence from drawing and doing anything on dA apart from looking at pictures...!

Next to jumping fandoms at the moment I've been thinking about my original work again. I still am very fond of my characters and the world they live in!

This character - Josua - is still my all time favourite and recently I find it amusing to doodle new dresses and clothes. I'm a bit enamoured with clothes that have many layers and patterns right now but I don't have the imagination and patience to make it look as detailed as I'd like it to be.

The doodle that pretends to be a background (more like space filler) is supposed to be a mini version of the slums at the outskirts of Babylon. Josua does not live in the slums nor in Babylon; she's from the White Dome city, though the clothes she wears are rather typical for White settlements in the remote country-side. In this pic she's about 14 and wears her hair in a strange mess under an even stranger hat *lol* (I just wanted to draw her with her bangs out of her face for a change)

Well, I guess that's enough snippets of story background. X3

While I had a lot of fun doing the lineart for this picture, colouring it was rather tedious. It took me quite some time to figure out a colour scheme I liked and then I got rather tired while colouring, so a few details are still lacking and I'm sure I can do the shading better >w< (well, at least I hope I can)

The glitterly lights might be misleading; it's not supposed to be fire, though I'm sure there are lots of fires (for light or warmth) in the slums. I first wanted them to be blue, because blue lights accompanying Josua was an image I used a lot previously. But somehow it did not match the colour scheme... So, fire. Fire-flies. Whatever. At least I think it's cute!
(On Animexx I'll upload a different version where it looks like snow *lol*)

But for now I'm happy with it. It's the first digital drawing I've finished in quite a few weeks ;w; (And it's Josua! *lol*)
