Venice, a prototype design of Silver.The only difference is his blue eyes/orange fur and that he looks a lot meaner. This fucker looks like he'd get the job done and kill Sonic, then fuck up Amy and Shadow for getting in the way.

I'm extra confused because I have the feeling Maurice has something to do with the comics.
And I don't read the comics nor consider them canon.
But Silver was formerly named Venice because the game he was introduced in was Italy based, but changed his name due to the almost shiny color he ended up with in his character model plus to add alliteration to the other hedgehogs boys' S names, and thus have their names look better next to each other.
Mr. Needlemouse/Mr. Harinezumi was a cute nickname given while Sonic was still in design. While the literal translation for harinezumi is "needlemouse", it's simply the japanese word for hedgehog, so technically his prototype name is also Mr. Hedgehog.

Kind of like with Knuckle's clan during Tikal's lifetime, except it didn't crash and burn; it crash and flooded with Perfect Chaos and drove the Mayan-based civilization to near extinction.
