Ironically, my PSD file for this pic is titled "speedpaint". It didn't end that way, if you can tell. I just started putzing around in Painter, so there was no base sketch for this. Overall I like it, but there are a few things I probably would have done differently if I'd been working from a more solid idea to start with.
This is supposed to be Sammael , lord of the incubi in Hell (though still a lieutenant of Lucifer). I've been wanting to do an updated portrait of him for ages, similar to [link] .

Well, I didn't do this one immediately after the last piece of cel-shaded art I did, the commission. I'd been working on a few pieces of line art, doing grayscale renders so I could work on my sense of contrast. I just never posted them (I never quite finished them, actually).

Ah. Ya I have many pieces that I haven't finished that are sitting there and I've gone back to them multiple times and added things or changed things based on the skills I developed since then.
Currently shading and feet seem to be the thing I need to work on most.

Anyway, awesome job on it; you're sure getting the hang of digital painting now

Thanks, sis. I did a few grayscale paintings on some other pieces of line art, and that really did help me with contrast and stuff. :3
