Description

EDIT 3/27/2018: I thought this bby needed a more proper bio, so I completely changed it~

And another lil’ flowerchild has entered the family. UvU
This little nugget is Cal, a centaur, and the horse breed called Gypsy or Irish Cob. They’re a really beautiful breed, so I really wanted to make him this one. Gypsies have always been my second most favorite horse breed, right after Norwegian Fjord.
Cal is a young stallion, and is one of Amorina’s friends. He’s rather curious and likes to explore new things. However, he can be a real scaredy cat sometimes.
He can get really flustered and shy really quick, but isn’t shy about meeting new people like Amorina is.
He’s an all-new character, so I still need to figure out some info about him.
But I can write down some of it here:

Name: Cal
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Orientation: Polyamorus pansexual
Species: Gypsy/Irish Cob centaur
Personality: Cal is a precious innocent centaur who's always curious about his surroundings. He always walks around in the forest picking flowers, exploring and looking for tiny animal friends (he especially loves butterflies). However he also enjoys spending time with his herd, just relaxing in the glades and the sunlight. He occasionally comes near the village to observe its residents, but never goes too close. Even though this boy is very curious and explores a lot, he gets scared by even the smallest noises and movements.
Fears: Thunder and lightning
Powers: None
Family: Mother, father and little sister.
Best friends: Nadeem (PineappleVikker 's OC), Menchi (Freaky5432 's OC) and Amorina.
Love interest: Menchi and Nadeem
Backstory: He grew up in his herd, living in the forest and spending a lot of time with his mother. At first he always stayed close to his mother, but as he grew older he started exploring more of the Pacem forest. In the beginning his parents were very worried for him because of potential predators in the forest, but Cal proved to them that he knew how to take care of himself and reassured them that he was careful. At the age of 18 he meets Amorina in the forest, and later also meets Menchi and Nadeem, with whom he grows very close and eventually they all end up in a polyamorous relationship.

Can you make a t-shirt for him?

I decided not to make a T-shirt or anything likely, because Cal here lives out in the wild and was also born there; so clothing is very unnatural to him. He'd more likely like to wear pretty flowercrowns.

He is just so cute and I love that you gave him those oblong pupils like horses have.  Nice touch!

I love Gypsy Vanners myself.  They really are such beautiful horses!  Like real-live Barbie dream horses.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I actually really like drawing those kind of pupils, for some odd reason.. xD

You're actually kinda right about that. xD
But yeah, they really are beautiful. I really love feathered horses, and their long manes only makes it better!

I feel like that too. Except for moths and mantises... At least when they're close. xD

LOL!  I like mantises.  They are just so fascinating to me.  That and a mantis gave me one of my favorite memories of my first cat, Winston.  So, they have a special place for me.  But I can understand why you wouldn't be fond of them.  They do look like alien monsters.    Plus, the really big ones can actually kill and eat hummingbirds.  That's when I'm like, "Nope!"

Their faces is def the most terrifying thing!
The first time I saw a mantis I was like "dafuq is that" and I think it was my dad who told me they can bite and be kinda aggressive, and that made me be like "Ahahahah how about no", and I've just always found them creepy.
I like their front legs, - or arms, if you could call them that - though, they look kinda cool!

captainvegeta In reply to Silver-Monster [2015-11-20 17:00:23 +0000 UTC]

YES!  They have the creepiest faces ever!  Especially their eyes.  It's like they have compound eyes, but a pupil at the same time because you can see this dark spot move across the orbs on their head.  Sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.  I've never been bitten by one, but I wouldn't put it past them.  Especially the big ones.  I imagine they would hurt like crazy.  Though they aren't venomous so it would probably be like getting bitten by any other animal, I suppose.

Their forelegs really are quite cool!  And very effective for hunting!    I love how they just tuck them close to their body.  It's kinda cute.  But then, I can be weird.

Yeah! The hummingbird thing you told about kinda freaks me out.
I actually designed my own kind of bug in class, and used a mantis for inspiration... I gotta say it was a bit unsettling having to look for reference pics.

NEAT!  Did you get a good grade for it?  I know what you are talking about!   There are just so many different kinds of mantis and some of them are TRULY bizarre!

Silver-Monster In reply to captainvegeta [2015-11-22 19:27:01 +0000 UTC]

I didn't get a grade, since it's a subject where we don't get grades for our works, except for our final work at the end of the year. I go to a different kind of school, and I think we only have that kind of school in Denmark, so yeah. xD
But it turned out pretty great! My friend and I ended up creating our own species, because she had made a bug that reminded a bit of my own, so... Mine was female and her's was male. That was kinda fun. xD

Speaking of which, I found a great pic of a mantis: file:///C:/Users/cphil_000/Downloads/360394-mantis.jpg

Ahh!  That is an interesting way to do things.  I'm not sure which I would prefer to have.

An accidental collaboration!    Nice!

As for the picture, it didn't show up here, unfortunately.  But I totally believe you!  There are some amazing pictures of mantis.  Have you ever stumbled on a series of videos on Youtube called "True Facts of..."?  They are kind of like nature documentaries with a comedic twist.  I don't now how you feel about the occasional naughty word, but they really are quite funny.  And they even did one on the mantis!  Here's the link if you want to check it out.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aSCPm…

Well, we do get grades in my school, just not for our "special" subject, where my subject is IT. I go to a school, where you live there with roomies, clean together, do activities together, stuff like that. It's a lot about having a good community, like we're all in one big family. I absolutely love going there, it's helped me in a lot of ways, and I gained some amazing friends here!

Daaaaaaang, okay let's try again: zamnar.com/360394.html
Ooooh, that actually sounds pretty interesting! I think I'll try it out later! c:

AH!  I see.  Very cool!  Kinda like a boarding school?  Or a college with dormitories!  Only maybe a little more closely knit?  Not sure though.  I went to a local college so I didn't have a dorm life.  But I did gain most of my current friends while I was in college!

There we go!  Awesome shot!  It's in a defensive posture and is trying to make itself look bigger so the 'threat', aka the camera, will leave it alone.  I found a video on Youtube of a mantis doing this to a cat that was trying to hunt it.  It was VERY effective in deterring the cat and absolutely hilarious to watch the cat try to figure out what this...THING...was.

Silver-Monster In reply to captainvegeta [2015-11-26 12:11:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, kinda like a boarding school, except this kind of school is called a continuation school in English. Roughly translated it's "efterskole" in Danish and "afterschool" in English, idk if that says something. xD
But it's basically where you take the last class(es), but live together with a lot of other students, and yeah, it's a very closely knit, as you said.

Omfg, it looks like the mantis is just like "bitch I'm fab", but all it's really doing is making itself look more dangerous! I would love to see that video!

I think I get you.  Very cool!  I think that helping students foster a sense of community is a wonderful thing.  Thank you telling me about it.

I know what you mean!  It really does look like that!    Lol, let me give you the link so that you can!  www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGvgk8… ; Just to give you a heads up, the cat does get in a few good swats , but the mantis doesn't seem hurt when the cat finally leaves it alone.  It's actually a really cool video because you get to see how the mantis moves.

Sorry I didn't give the link when I mentioned it before  I realize that I'm blowing up the comment section of your drawing, so I was worried that I might be starting to annoy you.    That is the last thing I want to do.

No prob!

Wow, that actually looks really cool! I didn't even know the mantis had those pretty colors and all. The position kinda makes me think of Kung Fu, but I heard that martial art was inspired by the mantis as well, so...

Oh, no no, not at all! I actually enjoy writing with you a lot! :3
If you wanna continue the conversation over notes, that's totally fine with me!
