This is mostly from the fanfiction versions of her. The authors make her pretty hateable. The movie version isn't actually very bad.

I see, well I tend to get tired of this "evil for the sake of being evil" with every single villain as everyone else expects me to believe. I just feel there is more to her than what we're shown and what we're told to believe, which is how I suspect with Randall Boggs and Lord Shen. Sometimes one lousy detail or two is not convincing enough.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Unfortunately, almost all the fanfiction depicts her as pretty damn evil, so that's all I've associated with her. Apologies for being another of the many disappointments you've seen.

Yeah, but there are at least some stories about her being something more than what is in the movie, in which she didn't start out that way to begin with as it reveals where her fear of predators started way back in her childhood. It's just hard for me to hate every single villain every time without knowing their side of the story.
