from the first sight (as the thumbnail) it reminded o another shot from a south african landscape photographer ([link] ).
And there's nothing (much) wrong with the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, it's the same one i use with my 1000d.

there are so many things that are available to those who have the cash. but what i find most photographers are always good at is working around the limitations o the equipment that they have.
it's not the camera that takes the shot, that is just a tool, it's the person behind the camera that achieves it.
