Description An Elven Man-O-War approaches an unknown planet...

This scene used the tutorial planet scene that comes with the pre-release 7.5, so it's not too original, I must confess I did find a major bug though that prevented me really making it more orignal, sigh. When I imported my model (from Vue 7), it kept having serious problems, so I gave in on tweaking the planet much and concentrated on working around that damned bug.

So far, *touch wood*, only serious bug I've found in 7.5 but I of course, would find it!!

anyway, it shows the really great planets that can be made with 7.5!
Credit to the creator of orignal scene of course

Ship/weapons made by me in Rhino, stars/galaxy done in Postwork in photoshop, and the wing tipes are semi-transparent

Completely not what I would ever have expected to see from the elves but very nice.

Hehe my design (cause I designed one for a story I wrote) was much more modular sorta like a boabab tree inspired concept.

It's good though - gives me a new perspective on possibilities.

Ah
Well my ship's based directly on the Spelljammer Man-O-War,
I'm not much use at original design work I must admit
So I built it to scale based on the deckplans, which I do with all the ships, so I can do layouts, show interior scenes etc.
lot of work, but well worth it, as I cna use them for so many types of scene.

As usual though, I find problems the original deckplans etc messed up on, and add my own touches etc

Well I hope to see more anyway. I just need time and a decent program I can actually use before I can put some stuff up at the quality I want for that.

I usae Vue for scene building
trick is to
a) find a program you LIKE using.
b) learn the baic concepts, they're much the same in all apps, though how they do it varies.

I strongly recommend the book:
Digital Lighting and Rendering, 2nd edition by Jeremy Birn!

Scene building isn't something that's a problem. It's the actual model construction of things.

I've discovered that modeling programs either don't come good or don't come usable...
