Entry for ~Aryenne ’s theme song contest. Inspired by “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.

This image was truly inspired by the entire song. Aryenne finds herself incapable of expressing her feelings of love toward a stallion that professes his own love and promises to do anything for her. “And I’d give up forever to touch you / ‘Cause I know that you feel me somehow / You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be…” He loves her, but the beautiful mare is cautious, not sure if she is willing to take the risk of loving. “And I don’t want the world to see me / ‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand / When everything’s made to be broken…” Aryenne fears that any love that might develop would be shattered and does not want to end up hurt and broken, like other things she has seen in the world. Though she would be completely loyal, she is not sure the stallion can be trusted, despite his pleas. “And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t coming / Or the moment of truth in your lies / Yeah you bleed just to know you’re alive…” Aryenne feels that pain is all that come of this love, this devotion. And yet, the pain of being so closed off, so separated from others drives her, “And I just want you to know who I am.”

Now for the symbolism. The stallion is white, a color of purity and love and hope. The ocean is a symbol for cleansing as her doubts slowly wash away. The sunrise is the dawn of a new day, a realization that maybe Aryenne can take this risk. But, the sky is shattering, yeilding the heavens, showing that, even when something is broken, something greater can be discovered. Perhaps her heart has been shattered once before, but now it is safe for her to open it again, allowing herself one true love that will heal her and carry her beyond the stars.

*Aryenne's color came out more purple and less blue than I had intended. I'm still getting used to the Prismas, and that's just how the colors blended. She's still pretty though And I'm very happy with the water. It's not the most realistic, but I like the colors and the movement*
