I had the concept sketches for Master Gryphon for a while, but was too busy to do anything with them before I left for the summer. In the field season (summer) I am away from my tablet, but when 's contest rolled around I absolutely had to do something.So this was done with traditional water colour pencils and my 5 year old camera...
I also took it as an excuse to draw my favorite Kung Fu Panda character Tigress (who is even more kick-butt awesome in the 2nd film XD ).
Master Gryphon has traveled up from the South to visit the Jade Palace, there she starts up a friendly sparring match with Master Tigress. Yep, this Kung Fu Panda gryphon is female.
Why is the background white you ask? Well...uh...they're fighting in a snow storm.
Oh you can bet this will be redone in digital media the first chance I get!

same tunic and pants style, mostly because Tigress was the only female kung-fu character in that movie that actually wore clothes X3 hence, the only model.

very nice and did you know that all gryphons are female? the males have no wings and are called keythongs and the gryphon and keythong species is called chumbaba

I didn't know that, I knew in old English heraldry the male gryphons were depicted with spines on their backs and the females with wings. What's the origin of kethongs? Which culture were they first mentioned?

scythia was the first place both gryphon and keythong where ever mentioned but they where known as chumbaba
