Oh wow, amazing!! I love this so much;; I know the whole "try again tomorrow" feeling oh so well. Of course, I still love my little quarterhorse/arabian cross. It just hurts to fall off ^-^;

It doesn't matter how small the horse is, it still hurt to fall off. Tell me more about your quarb? I'm really partial to qh crosses because I have an appendix quarter horse mare

Ah, dear, my Qau-rab (Haha, that's his nickname XD ) is a little chestnut monster, if I do say so myself. I love him though. He's 15.2 HH (we jokingly call him a pony, since he's only one hand off). He pretends he's royalty. I have a few pictures of him up in my gallery. His name is Noel (he was born on Christmas), I got him about seven months ago, and trained him myself. He went nine years in a pasture with his mother and sister with minimal care (sweet feed and grass, water, bare essentials, no vet, etc. etc.) completely untrained. So it's been a challenge, but I love him :] Oh, how a horse can steal a heart.
So that was pretty much everything you'd EVER want to know about ANY horse. Hope I didn't drive you insane with my looooong comment!!

wow nine years without handling. I bet his feet were a mess not to mention lack of basic ground manners, trailering skills, etc, I admire you for taking on the challenge. Have you started him undersaddle yet or are you still building his foundation?
I know what you mean about them stealing our hearts. Once you fall for them it doesn't matter whether they are the best match for you, you can't imagine life without them. I hate to think about what's going to happen next year when I leave for college.... I can't imagine not seeing Paxton several times a week.

Pshaw, I'm taking my adorable wonderful "His Majesty Mr. High Class" Noel to college. That's one of my main qualifiers for which college I go to.
His feet weren't cracked or anything, just long and a bit brittle. He's terrified of trailers (that's my next training challenge to tackle). His ground manners were shifty at best, and he really didn't know how to act, but now he's a perfect little angel (NOT! He's a silly--he likes to mess with everyone, but not be outright bad. He knows the line between funny and punishable).
I've ridden him, and he takes the saddle quite well, but I prefer bareback to borrowing a saddle that doesn't fit perfectly. I'm currently in the market, a friend of mine is selling all her saddles (she owned a horse camp), so I might buy that or get one for Christmas (aka Noel's Birthday!! WHOOT! Horse birthdays RULE!) Heck, I like bareback a lot anyway. He seems to do really well though, it only took about five months to get him to a decently trained, feel confident about doing new stuff alone level. He doesn't know EVERYTHING, but that's to be expected. Quick learner, really eager, what more could I ask for? :]
Also, he seems to respond quite nicely to Parelli Natural Horsemanship;; I like it a lot as well, so the fact that it works for both of us is an amazing treat :]
