Description

Darkness blanketed the night, smothering the light of the moon. Dark clouds drifted back and forth, and a layer of dark mist coated the ground. A small fire crackled in the light, illuminating some of the night and pushing  back some of the darkness. Sparks sprung forth and dissipated in the cool breeze, looking like fireflies blinking in and out of existence.

Around the fire sat four hunched over figures. They eyed the darkness around them warily. The first figure was a male. A pair of glasses sat on the bridge of his nose, dirtied and cracked. The second was female. A bloodied bandage was wrapped around her right arm, and she was staring into the fire dully. The third figure was also a male. He was watching the woods around him, on the lookout for anything out of place. And finally, the fourth figure was (female/male). A dirtied and bloodied piece of cloth was wrapped around (his/her) head, covering her (dominant) eye.

The only sound in the forest was the breath of the four survivors and the crackling of the fire. Their breath came out in small white puffs that dissipated into the night. The female with the bandage around her arm spoke up, her voice nothing but a whisper.

“Where do you think we are?”

You looked up from the fire and met her tired gaze with a shrug. The male keeping a lookout looked away from the forest to listen to the conversation. He shrugged as well. “Somewhere in the forest. Where, I do not know.” The girl nodded in thought and turned back to the fire. The male returned to his silent watch.

Silence returned to the survivors, and it stretched on forever. It was broken by a twig snapping. Immediately the four of you turned towards the sound. You held your breath, hoping it was just an animal or something. A few minutes passed and nothing happened. You released the breath you were holding in and sighed. A small smile cracked your chapped lips.

“Hey Meg, when we get out of this, do you want to hang out?”

She turned to you, surprise in her eyes. But the surprise melted away and a smile broke out on her lips too. “Sure, (y/n).” Her eyes glimmered with amusement and she side eyed the male with the chipped glasses. “We can paint Dwight’s nails.” The man looked up from the fire to stare at the two of you quizzically. “What?” You and Meg snickered.

Then you froze. The other three saw, and the second male spoke up. “What is it, (y/n)?” You hushed him and turned around, staring into the forest behind you. In a whisper you spoke, “Do you hear that?” They listened intently, but heard nothing. Dwight shook his head, and you hesitantly turned back to the fire. “What did you hear?” You frowned into the flames. “I thought I heard breathing from behind me… I guess it could have been -” You were cut off by Meg screaming your name and jumping up. You bolted upwards as well, pulling Dwight up with you. The four of you scattered, with Meg and the second male disappearing into the forest and you and Dwight rushing the other way.

“Is he back?!” You panted out, turning your head behind you to see if anything was giving chase. Beside you Dwight grimaced, and that was all you needed to know. You turned back to face forwards, but dove to the left while Dwight dove to the right. A meat cleaver was swung between the two of you, narrowly missing. You yelped and continued forward, dodging trees and bushes. Behind you you could hear footsteps, along with heavy breathing.

Shit shit shit shit shit shit

The thought repeated itself like a broken record. A small red light appeared at your feet, and it illuminated the area behind you. A scream tore from your lips as the meat cleaver made contact with your back. It sent you stumbling forward, but you caught yourself and continued to sprint away. Small whimpers left you. The pain in your shoulder flared up as you rested your good arm on it.

Up ahead was two large rocks, with a wooden pallet leaned up against the one on the left. The red light appeared again, and you picked up the pace. As soon as you reached the rocks, you turned and pulled the pallet down. The thing behind you grunted, stunned for a few seconds as the pallet came into contact with it. You turned again and knelt down behind some trees. The forest had returned to the silence that used to rein down on it. The only thing you could hear was the frantic beating of your heart and the pained whimpers that unintentionally left your lips. A few minutes passed, and nothing happened. You hesitantly stood up.

In front of you was a mask. The area where the mouth would be was cracked open, with sharp and mangled teeth lining the inside. Two small holes were drilled where the eyes were, and inside those two holes you could see nothing but darkness. A scream ripped itself from your throat. You stumbled backwards. The person behind the mask swung the cleaver at you again, knocking you to the ground. Another scream burst forth, and pain flooded your being like a river. The cleaver knocked you to the ground. The Killer bent down and picked you up, slinging you over his shoulder. He started to walk back towards the area where the pallet was, with you wiggling and screaming.

Your eyes widened as you felt yourself being grabbed from his shoulder and swung towards something. The thing broke through the back of your shoulder, ripping through flesh and tearing through bone. A loud scream broke your lips, and you were sure everyone in the forest could hear it. It echoed, ringing the ears of the other survivors.

The killer had slung you on a hook, the hook that was now in your shoulder. He stood there for a moment, watching you with hollow eyes. And you finally got a good look at what had been  haunting you and your small group of survivors the whole night. He had ripped and old looking overalls on. That was the only piece of clothing you found on him, other than brown boots.

Blood was splattered over the clothes, staining them a darker color. The crimson substance coated his hands and arms up to his elbows, dripping down them in a rhythmic fashion. Broken pieces of metal clipped one side of the overalls together, holding the article of clothing up. Other bits of metal stuck in and out of the flesh of his left shoulder and both arms. His mask was stuck to his head by thick wire that held the thing together.

You choked back a sob and stared wide eyed at him. He perked up and faced towards the area to your right. An area that you couldn’t see from your position. He stalked off in that direction, leaving you suspended on the meat hook. And that was when you noticed what was forming around you.

The only thing you could use to describe it was alien like. It appeared to have no head, but was one giant and thin thing with many claws. Pinkish hairs stuck out of its joints, and it was wrapped around the meat hook you were on. Newly found fear and adrenaline rushed through your veins as one of the claws formed directly above you.

It swung towards you, but you managed to catch it just in time. Tired pants and whimpers left you as you struggled to hold the thing back. Your legs swung and the pain in your shoulder and eye flared again. Out of the corner of your eye you could see the Killer heading towards you, Dwight slung over the same shoulder that had carried you. He was wriggling and yelling, pounding his fist against the back of the being carrying him.

His eyes widened when he saw you, and he yelled, “(y/n)!” You screamed as he said that. The claw you were struggling with suddenly yanked itself backwards and out of your grip, then rushed forwards and into your stomach.

A squelching noise was heard as it ripped through your intestines and came out of your back. Crimson liquid splattered the ground and the post the meat hook was on. Dwight yelled again. The light faded from your eyes, and a thin trickle of blood trickled down from your lips.

You totally did die. c; And Dead by Daylight is a new multiplayer survival horror game! One player is the Killer, and 4 players are survivors. The survivors job is to turn on 5 generators to open an exit, while the Killer's job is to, well, kill the survivors! It's really fun!
