The Lovers card has a dual meaning, which I find pretty cool considering the card itself involves two for one.
The first meaning is pretty self-explanatory. It symbolizes a relationship (romantic or not) that is loving and trusting. Two people coming together in a happy, healthy way.
The second meaning seems to fit this scene a bit better. It represents temptation or a big choice. If you are faced with a decision, trust your higher guidance to find the right path. Lean into the choice that feels the most “loving”.
Considering Sarah’s position here, she is not only faced with the temptation of jareth, his affection and everything else he offers, but also the responsibility to make the choice to break his spell and rescue her brother in time. That is the decision that is most loving, as she began the quest to rescue Toby out of love.
This painting may be my favorite so far. I had to use three different types of watercolor medium to paint it and I love the final results. I used Windsor-Newton cake watercolors, Tombow Markers, and Dr PH Martin liquid watercolor.
We’re halfway through the major arcana!!
