He's basically an alcoholic, who is past caring about being a badass. As Beholder's and Tyrant eyes in the D and D canon are normally overly narcissistic assholes who are a terrible pain to kill. I've always loved beholders like they are so awesome looking I agree and D and D can be really fun like way more fun than Warhammer though I have not played it in a while due to workload, though mindflairs and beholders can be the worst
