The card can mean wisdom, humility, solitude, searching, detachment, deliberation, and observation.The Hermit (IX)is by no means a shy card, showing us that we must stand on our own two (or four) feet and rely on past experience and past knowledge to find our way. Commonly depicted as an aged man, our gryphon here has seen his share of years. The lantern he carries is commonly known as he "Lantern of Wisdom", and symbolizes all the light and knowledge that he has gained throughout his years.

I love these kinds of unusual decks I have the dragon tarot (2 versions, including the celtic) and I love it. I've seen a unicorn tarot as well. It would be awesome to find a real gryphon tarot.

Getting there slowly but surely. I looked for a gryphon deck online and got no hits, so that's why I decided to do my own. It's going to take a while to get all the cards done.

That is my intention, once I get all the cards painted and designed. It will take me several years but it's my goal to do a fully illustrated working tarot deck.
