I didn't expect Soleil to be the first character I posted for PC at all LOL Although I guess I posted Genevieve before but that was rather old.I got a new tablet from me wonderful aunt and it temporarily inspired me to draw after I was in an art block for so long. I think I'm back in my art block now because my break is ending even though I don't feel like I had one and everyone is busy again and my drawing and writing progress relies so crazily on other people I need to figure out what to do about that RIP I remember when I used to actually be independent.
I got really into the PC mood and wanted to draw all the characters from it one by one in their own picture (something I wanted to do for CAA that I still haven't done LOL) because I recently listened to Emilie Autumn and her music I can relate a lot to the story. I actually made Soleil as a character before thinking of the circus, so her name was accidental, and then I thought she was too boring and I remembered circuses were a big thing in the time period so I made her a circus girl. And it was after that I watched some of EA's live performances and then realized how amazingly creative and theatrical they are and seeing captain maggot's hula hoop routine and contessa's fire dance in dead is the new alive got me hyped to make this picture. I don't think I like how the perspective of the proportions on her body or how the motion blurs came out (it doesn't look like it's moving but it's supposed to) since I don't really know how to color fire, but it was a nice step outside my comfort zone, along with a lot of other stuff I sketched up.
I still owe Leah a birthday present, I don't know if she gets on dA anymore but I will have to get to doing that as soon as I can even though my art block is coming back. I will start it before break ends, but I'm not sure if or when I'll have it done. I might have to try to shoot for after finals and that weird little break between getting into new classes.
(Update- I totally should have checked to make sure hula hoops existed in 1888 first because I'm pretty sure they didn't whoops)
(Another Update- I COMPLETELY FORGOT A HUGE PART OF DETAIL ON HER OUTFIT AND ONLY REALIZED IT LIKE 3 YEARS LATER BUT OH WELL)

I dont know what you mean by you dont like the blurring because i think it turned out quite nice. it certainly added an fov depth to the image, and the fire really does look like it is being twirled. i enjoy.
alsoooo i went and listened to more emilie autumn (why isnt your name spelled that way pft) and it turns out i liked less of her songs than i thought, but there were still really good ones. if i listened to the ones i didn't enjoy as much i'm sure id start to like them though. often in theatrical music there are sounds and noises that stick out in the music and it's all you can hear at first, so you gotta listen more to make them sounds more normal.

I think the picture looks better with the blurring than it looked without it, but it still doesnt look as intense as I hoped. It might be because I would've had to blur it so much you couldn't see the original detail for it to look the way I imagined, and I'm always afraid to do that LOL same with going overboard with lighting after I liked my original coloring.
HONESTLY I WISH MY NAME WAS SPELLED THAT WAY ITS SO MUCH BETTER. I also like the name amelia/emelia better than emily I scream
Well the first time I listened to her was a really long time ago when I clicked on like one song of hers and didn't like it and just assumed I wouldn't like the rest of her songs which was v stupid of me because I didn't realize at the time her music varies a lot. Like she has some more heavy rock stuff, some more electronic stuff, more victorian styled stuff, more classical stuff, and like the almost broadway styled stuff. I also did not like a lot of her songs the first time I heard them but they've mostly really grown on me for reasons I can't explain LOL also i dont like her really old stuff as much. (although starting off a lot of her albums were poetry readings and completely violin so it's hard to pick out the songs on those albums that are practically hidden LOL)
ye there's always the sound sticking out stuff, like me with grausame töchter LOL who I didn't like the first time but I like a lot more now. It's a lot of getting used to stuff I think. Plus emilie likes to purposely change her voice so at times it sounds bad on purpose cause I think her music is more about expression than anything else so it is more theatrical than musical at times
