I know this isn't the best shot of him that I could get, but its the only one (so far). As the title says, he's a cockatoo/white persion cat gryph. So cute! My friends named him Shinju (pearl).Betcha can't guess what he's made of. Cookies to any that do ^_^

Hmn... Shaving cream would be a bad guess. His wings are far too big and stretched out for that... My second guess would be Paper mache... Of course, even then I could be wrong.

Paper mache isn't a bad guess. He's actually made of aluminium foil (wrinkles and stuff filled in with tacky glue) and shiny acrylic paint.

Random comment about the name. I've never heard of it being used as the word for opal. In japanese it is the word for "double love suicide" and it refers to when two lovers commit suicide together because they are not allowed to be together or other such reasons. Somehow this gorgeous little cat gryph doesn't seem suicidal to me XD
I always hate it when I think I know what something means and I really don't. Then of course there is that awkward situation where someone who DOES know what it means gets really confused when you make a reference to it. So...yeah just thought you may like to know

That's a sweet little thing. Have you seen the pet gryphons that are at some Rennaissance Faires? They rest draped over your shoulder and can move their heads about via a wire you hold. Anyways, it'd be great if they made one based off of this sculpture, people would snatch those right up its so cute! ^_^
