I was just thinking that almost all of the stories about selkies are set somewhere in the UK. But seals are found all over the world, so why not have a Hawaiian Monk Seal selkie?

the hand really sells it as being of a monk sealΒ - the "please back up or leave" of a seal genus who don't like guests.Β (though her face suggests she's very polite and well-mannered and kind with her friends and those she trusts)
I particularly love the splay of her legs - like she hasn't got her land legs just yet.
