Description
Just a quick overall ref of the species as a cool down after a long day of class
Placeholder name: Serpe
Concept Background:
They are a "race" which worships the concept of binding physical body = beauty as it is compressing their soul essence and so the ancestors of these beings underwent a ritual where they would bind their legs and adorn themselves with accessories to achieve spiritual enlightenment/awakening.
They (the ancestors leading to the creation of this evolutionary trait) bound their legs starting from the tail bone as the root chakra is located there, and by removing direct contact from earth to the souls of their feet, they believed that it was the first step to reaching the heavens/spiritual enlightenment (and by binding the root chakra, it would condense their spiritual energy as they begin their ascension)
The imagery behind long fabrics/tassels/fibers (shapes) etc is tied to the belief that it represents one's lifespan/longevity
(This is borrowed from the Chinese tradition of eating long long noodles on one's birthday as a expression of blessing one with longevity) consequently, the older the individual is, the longer their braided tail is, tying back to the theme of longevity.
Why the long ears? (Borrowed from buddism)
Long earlobes/ears symbolize a conscious rejection of the material world in favor of spiritual enlightenment (much like the separation of their feet's sole from the earth below) This became a ingrained feature of the race as they continued to evolve under the practices of their spiritual beliefs.

CS WIP + How I conceptualiseFor those interested in the way I develop my ideas/concepts, here's the latest CS concept I'm currently trying to culture in my idea box.
I'd be more than happy to share my experience and process of brainstorming ideas such as these for those who're interested.
This is just a short overview on how I "put together" ideas. I'll save the actual CS-designing process for another day as there's multiple elements to consider when designing species as they need to be multi-dimensional to function well.
IMPORTANT Disclaimer:
Please, I beg of you, do NOT take this concept, put it in a blender/digest and regurgitate it etc and then claim it as your own.
Piecing ideas together to create concepts like these in an comprehensive format requires multiple steps, research, time and effort. By taking other people's ideas and building off them/reformatting the concept, you're no better than "artists" who trace other people's artworks.
While I do not claim ownership of the individual traits and
Serpe CS is by aoneir
Please do not copy, heavily reference or claim this idea as your own
PS: will introduce the unbound form and how a Serpe is “born” in another entry later
