Man, the amount of fire on this topic. Can't we all just have animation as it is: In many different forms? 2D, 3D, claymation, roto-scope, etc.

CGI animation, hand-drawn animation, and stop-motion animation all have the potential to tell a great story - all they really need is a great story idea.

Asking for variety in today's media is basically just outright complaining because there's four styles of 2D, and all of them better fit cartoons rather than movies.
Hand-drawn, Flash Animation, ToonBoom, and Boulder Studios.
All of these just feel the same to me.
Seriously though. Someone show this to .

Cartoons are alway 2D. Some are 3D like The Penguins of Madagascar.
3D animation is also beautiful.

Dude, while I agree that CGI animation and 2D animation are equals, Iβm okay with those who genuinely dislike CGI.

I agree! I love all animation styles, and CGI is, in my eyes, beautiful if done right. How To Train Your Dragon is a wonderful example of beautiful CGI.

Yeah, I used to discriminate against CG films...But some REALLY good ones came out in the past year, and they've made me respect the medium more. ^^Β

To all you CGI lovers here, I'm only going to say this once. I don't even want to go through this with you people, okay? So unless you really want to start up a heated argument about animation, don't even try to confront me anymore about why I hate Disney's CGI movies or anything. If you leave me alone, I'll leave you alone. Understand?

As for the animation itself, as long as the movement, textures, and lighting are done correctly it'll look fine.

I'll admit I used to Hate CGI, Then I realized that I loved it just as much as 2D. In my Opinion, Both are Great, and It's About the Story as well as how It's Animated.

Disney uses CGI you say? This is BLASPHEMY!

ToonEGuy In reply to FunnelVortex [2013-08-16 20:31:10 +0000 UTC]
For me it is blasphemy, because those films are made to be their substitute for 2D animation, and they're just throwing 2D animation away in the process (that and Pixar is the CGI studio, not them). And I don't see their CGI films because I don't want to and won't support their constant drive to replace making 2D films.
