I hear a lot of complaints about CGI animation, and I must say-- why the discrimination? CGI has just the amount of potential as any medium, animated or otherwise. Yet, I see the most complaints about this one.
"Why can't we go back to 2D?"
Well, 2D is nice, and it IS still done. Japanese animation is still for the most part 2D, cartoons are 2D, American animated films are 2D every now and then. Animation is developing, and yet people are complaining, which I think is silly.

CGI animation, hand-drawn animation, and stop-motion animation all have the potential to tell a great story - all they really need is a great story idea.

Asking for variety in today's media is basically just outright complaining because there's four styles of 2D, and all of them better fit cartoons rather than movies.
Hand-drawn, Flash Animation, ToonBoom, and Boulder Studios.
All of these just feel the same to me.

I agree! I love all animation styles, and CGI is, in my eyes, beautiful if done right. How To Train Your Dragon is a wonderful example of beautiful CGI.

There are some 3D animated movies that WOULD NOT have worked if they were 2D. Wreck-it Ralph, for example.
P.S. I prefer Disney's 3D animation over their 2D animation. I wanted to say this on other stamps like this, but every other stamp like this has disabled comments.

3D is amazing, beutiful and sometimes very realistic, why 2D is pretty, wonderful and nostalgic ( if something, im teen ) and both give work to do! I mean, how can 2D come in days and we have to wait for 3D for months, hm? I admit that draw milion frames is not easy, but still. Also, isnt story more important?
And what is nostalgic and childhood for our parents, will be once nostalgic and childhood for us... and same with our children.
And 2D is still here!

I'll admit I used to Hate CGI, Then I realized that I loved it just as much as 2D. In my Opinion, Both are Great, and It's About the Story as well as how It's Animated.

With that aside, CGI haters are full of shit. I wonder if they even have SEEN the movies they criticize so much.

For me it is blasphemy, because those films are made to be their substitute for 2D animation, and they're just throwing 2D animation away in the process (that and Pixar is the CGI studio, not them). And I don't see their CGI films because I don't want to and won't support their constant drive to replace making 2D films.
