Description He deserves a stamp, because he's made of pure awesome. He is, after all, one of the greatest suspense writers of all time. His plot-lines are brilliant and well thought-out, his characters are in-depth and amazingly human, and his villains are absolutely frightening, despite being drawings. The man's a genius. He's most famous for his terrific works "Monster", "20th Century boys" and "Pluto". Also, his newest work "Billy bat" is getting really good, apparently.

Yeah! And like probably all cartoonists who suffer from "deadlinitis" (coined by Tezuka), he can draw super fast as well. In a video interview, they were filming him do a colored picture of Kenji, and his hand just flew over the paper. And then halfway into the inking, which he does immaculately, he stopped and was like, "oops, I think I want to draw him leaning forward a bit more," and then discarded that picture and started again! . If this is how he goes about with every page, I want the rights to his recycling bin!

Have you read anything by Otsuichi? I think he has Naoki Urasawa on the run for his money, then again... Otsuichi is Japan's Master of Horror.

That reminds me, I am collecting all volumes from Pluto at this moment. I will read this manga in one rush if I got them all in the near future (I hate to stop while reading something suspensful)

I've only read the first volume of Pluto so far. Last time I went to the comic store, they were sold out of it.
Now I'm broke and can't buy more.

This sucks !

I am very glad that they just published Pluto here in Germany. But hey, there are still scanlations you can read online

Yeah, but I feel like I have to support Urasawa by actually buying it. So I'll just wait x3

Well, most Japanese artists do not see any money you put into their work. But I still like to buy manga, comics and Anime-DVD's to support the industry. People always think anime is mainstream because the internet is full of catgirls and emo boys, but anime is indeed NOT that popular in the real world. Look at Japan: People always think that everybody there loves anime, but the truth is only this Akihabara town is full of otaku and anime supporters.

Uhm, sorry for my random rant But yeah, we should support them in every way we can !

I've only bought a minimal amount of of anime DVDs -looks over at Gankutsuou boxset-. I'm a High school student; thus live with my parents who won't let me order it offline, so there aren't many options.
Yeah, that does bug me. It's actually only a small portion of the world, especially outside Japan who are ligament anime fans. People who watch one and claim to be otaku don't count . The problem is that many anime/manga fans are really, really loud about it and can't talk about anything else, so I think it makes it seem like more. I don't know.

Exactly my thoughts ! I always read here on DA that everybody is into anime, but in my real life I know no one who likes anime that much as I do.

Back then in my early fandom I watched every anime I could get on VHS or DVD. Today I can watch everything in the net

All my friends watch anime, but I only have one that's [really] into it. I'm not overly-obsessive, but I do watch quite a bit.
-Cough- I've only been watching anime for a year and a half; I've seen 80 including movies. I would say I need to get a life, but most of those were watched in the first couple months. I've slowed down.

Long-time anime fan, eh? I was originally opposed to trying it due to the fandumb surrounding Naruto and such, but I was an animation fan already and wanted to check out Japanese animations as well. My friend showed me Code Geass. I liked it, so I checked out FMA, and the rest is history~ But that's why I didn't start sooner.

You want to get a life ? Anime is my life, and I don't think this is exaggerated. My best friend IRL only likes gothic like anime, you know, SoulEater, Hellsing and D.Gray Man. But like you I am the only one who truly likes animation overall. In my case I grew up with classic comic books, although I didn't understand most political stuff they were showing.

Nah, I have a life. I get good grades, have a large group of friends, good relationships with my teachers. I'm good. I grew up on Disney and Don Bluth, and never grew out of it. I love cartoons. ;A; I've never really read comic books, except some Scott Pilgrim and Bone.
And recently I've been addicted to Nuzlocke comics, but those are just fanmade fares, so they don't count. Damn addicting, though
