Why was it that this scene scared me so much in theater? It's a bit of a shock but it wasn't unexpected. Maybe the destruction of the character's potential after her transformation just irks me...

I agree.... Changing Dren to male sorta ruins the whole effect of who she was... But then the makers of this movie weren't in business to give me the Dren I wanted, but rather to have an ending that will be of interest to who they felt their audience was. Not sure they did so well. There's a lot of people out there saying things like "This movie was great up until..." ... People can't agree on the exact point where things stopped being what they wanted, but that's sort of a bad sign that so many people seemed to feel this way...

I am the only person to think he is scary sexy? In the movie it's the same actress playing both female/male role. I love the freakishness of this movie so much, hardly any other movie would dare to go to places this one did. It ended up raping it's own mother to produce the next generation of creatures.
