Description
Before King Cold, the one who held the throne as Emperor of the Universe was Chilled, King Cold's father. He and his descendants believed they were the most powerful family in the universe. Believing that the number of beings that could face them was very small, being Beerus and Majin Buu, but there was one more being, and that being was a Titan who had destroyed the world he had protected for millennia.

That Titan was King Ghidorah

During the conquest of a planet, King Ghidorah arrived on it, with the purpose of destroying it completely. Chilled's army face the Titan, but it was completely useless. Each and every one was killed by Ghidorah.

Chilled, confident in his power, decided to face Ghidorah, not knowing that this would be the worst and last decision of his life. What the frost demon least expected was to become food for Ghidorah, who upon tasting Chilled's blood, began to devour every soldier of Chilled or of the planet he saw.

Knowing how his father was killed by Ghidorah showed Cold that there were more beings in the universe than he and his familia had not to face for nothing. Something he would tell his descendants.
