Two weeks before the start of the Saiyan Mating Season and during the training with the Z-Fighters after the events of Volume 8, Raven wakes up and notices Goku's absence at home, 21 tells her that he has gone to Mt. Paozu to do his work, offering to come in and have a drink while waiting for Goku to return, but Raven refuses, deciding to look for Goku. She had heard that Goku had gotten a job and was currently working as a Park Ranger, hoping to find Goku doing something interesting to maybe offer him a little hand so he could finish his work faster, and to Raven's good fortune, this happened.

Those days had been somewhat busy, as groups of poachers had been appearing in the area, but for the good fortune of the pokemon and animals in the area, their Park Ranger was Goku, who in those days had taken care of them. Goku could leave the job to the Pokemon of Mt. Paozu as they were considerably strong, but he preferred to do it himself with the help of his Infernape to prevent any of them from being caught.

Raven initially decided to watch the "show", but in the end, she decided to help, as it could be a little warm-up before the real training for her and an old friend of hers, her Garchomp.

Goku accepted Raven's help, taking out the poachers faster than expected, only the fire generated when their vehicles and weapons were destroyed being a small problem, but nothing that Goku's Blastoise couldn't handle.
