Enassan is the mother of her Oc's :thumb353324852:

I really enjoyed depicting this strong and striking woman

....................................................................................................................

Kiddo stirred, blinked, a nagging feeling of being watched over pulling her off her slumber. She had been sure she had closed the door to her quarters after her last night, even tired as she had been, and few were those that were allowed in her place and would dare to enter anyway.
She rose and turned, ready to great the only man that would have felt allowed to enter and gave a start at the silhouette sitting on the chair at the foot of the bed.

"My Queen."

She scurried off her bed and bowed deeply, acutely conscious of her attire in front of the most powerful woman of the realm, second only to Oren and in some aspects, maybe more commanding than him.

Enassan was strikingly gorgeous and rumoured to be as deadly as the panther that was her nickname. Sometimes you would see her silhouette in the background, watching silently over her king's shoulders. Her eyes, so cold despites the warmth of their colour, the rich hue of molten gold, could strike anyone mute on the spot and she had never backed from her responsibilities, taking arms next to her husband during the last great battles of the Akhieil lake, fighting ferociously to defend her country and people.

Kiddo could count on the fingers of one hand she had seen her queen, and never before the tall, dark haired beauty had spoken to her. Now that they were face to face, she could see on Enassan the features she had passed down to her sons, the warm hue of a perfect skin, the imperative glare under a perfectly defined brow.

My Queen, I am at your service."

"I know, Kiddo."

Enassan was still sitting, one hand caressing the cover of a dendroan poetry book she had found and was looking at the young soldier in front of her. Kiddo was wearing a man's shirt, way too big for her, a shirt she recognised very well. The young woman looked very young, her hair escaping a low ponytail in thick locks, tumbling down her shoulders. It was hard to imagine that she had been among the ones that had stormed Kerrenfiel fort a few days ago, freeing the prisoners and riding the stronghold of the invaders from the Sybinius Moors.

"You have become my son's Guardian several months ago now and we never talked, woman to woman."

"Is that why you're here, my Queen?"

Enassan smiled, soft but also cold, rising to her feet.

"I know that you love my sons dearly. I know that you would die for them both. I know and respect your devotion for my country and family. This is why I will let you keep on what you're doing with Aeran."

A small noise escaped Kiddo's throat despites herself and the queen cupped the young woman's face in her slender fingers, making her tilt her head back to better look at her, those silvery grey eyes that were now staring at her with something akin to fear.

"As long as you keep in mind who you are, and who they are, I see no objection in your relationship. If it's your choice to serve your country this way, you can."

No contempt in her choice, only a calm stating of facts as she kept on speaking, her hand rising to tuck on a wayward strand of hair behind Kiddo's ear.

"You will only gain pain from this but it's the path you picked. You have chosen to love a man that will never be yours but I won't go against this. Had you been only one of those social climbers trying to gain power or riches thanks to what is hidden between your legs, I would have had you killed on the spot, but I know that your feelings are true."

She released the young woman, still smiling that polar smile, this time speaking in a softer voice.

"This is what saved you then, and this is what protects you now. Keep on loving my sons, Kiddo, for I don't care about you, but I care about them."

The young woman looked stricken in front of Enassan and in contradiction with the harshness of her words, the queen felt a deep wave of empathy for the young warrior. If she could have made her understand how hard it would be, the weight of duty that came with being who they were. She loved Oren now, loved her king with a flame that burned high and bright, a fierce passion that was only matched by her respect for him but she had married him as a stranger all those years ago, the love had come later, growing slowly but steadily.

Lower, gentler, her voice had taken on a confiding tone as she started to turn on her heels, walking slowly to the door.

"I have heard of what you did on the ramparts of Kerrenfield. You're a great soldier, Kiddo. You're also a smart woman so I hope you will hear what I say. Love matters, yes, but it will never win in front of duty. One day you will have to choose."

One last glance at the young woman whose cheeks were as red as if she had been slapped.

"Did he told you he loves you?"

Unable to say a word, throat constricted by emotions, Kiddo only shook her head in denegation.

"Don't do it. Don't let him do it. It will make things easier. Knowing it is enough, trust me."

"Thank you, my Queen."

Strangled, hoarse but intelligible and Enassan gave a little start at hearing Kiddo's voice, more surprised by her words than by the fact she had spoken.

"Thank you for leaving us this."

Enassan nodded and left, closing the door quietly behind her. If things had been different... Oren's words echoed in her mind and she shook her head. Once again, she found herself agreeing with her king, muttering the same words as she started again to her quarters.

"If things had been different, what a queen she would have made."

like the skin texture a lot... also all the little extras you put around her. only thing is, that i'm missing sharp edges (e.g. around the nose and the eye iris) - that contrasts with the parts where you applied some sharp detail such as the eyebrows and eyelashes.

so i'm saying more of that would make it even better

sure, I could keep going forever but its a commission with a set price based on time. I have to stop at some point or keep going on and on without payment.

oh i see, then i can understand it

even though i'd personally complete the edges for my personal satisfaction.. i mean it's still one of your works and displayed here.

when you view it overall - there isnt an issue only when you zoom in is the sharpness contrast really evident and its not meant to be viewed like.

I like it, I think that adding a small piece of shiny metal to an image is often a good thing because it looks more realistic if there are different degrees of reflectiveness in an image, just like in real life.

SimmotoSyoshiko In reply to fendenkrell [2013-07-09 17:06:35 +0000 UTC]

eh the problem is that ssome pieces with alot of pixels look weird when they are smooshed to a small size. the problem with digital also is that people can zoom way in, when in practicality say... if it were printing in its proper size, one could only see it in the size that it was meant to be seen, not 'closer' larger and not smaller.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fendenkrell In reply to SimmotoSyoshiko [2013-07-09 17:46:22 +0000 UTC]

yeah i gotcha. thats what i meant to convey. that i had made a snap judgment based on a thumbnail(of all things) and then was wrong. i know about the size of pixels and whatnot, just wasn't thinking aboot it at the time.

thank you. I envy your traditional pieces I dont do traditional very ofen and yours are great. I miss the organic nature of it

JesCallie In reply to SimmotoSyoshiko [2013-07-09 06:50:09 +0000 UTC]

thank you.

for me it's gotta be traditional work.
that moment when you forget to save and hit the "close" button...

nope. you'd have to really erase or repaint to get that effect with traditional stuff. it's the equivalent to accidentally setting your piece on fire, which i have done...

SimmotoSyoshiko In reply to JesCallie [2013-07-09 07:01:04 +0000 UTC]

you crack me up. yes corrupting or losing a file can drive one to insanity but then again so can a wet oil painting that hasnt set, if it gets rubbed or falls or walked on by kitty

how did you set your piece aflame??

JesCallie In reply to SimmotoSyoshiko [2013-07-09 07:28:33 +0000 UTC]

glad to hear.
or when people want to touch the work for some reason. it feels exactly like you would expect. except they expect it to be dry. which is why i use acrylic.

way back in the day i used to paint at night and with candles instead of electric lights. THAT was really old school. go figure.

but more recently (on [link] ) i've been using a hairdryer to cure the acrylic, and i borrowed one that got way too hot. and the paint singed after 5 months of work. i was both sad/mad and didn't care anymore. sorry Florence. as if her hair wasn't fiery enough.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SimmotoSyoshiko In reply to JesCallie [2013-07-09 17:10:15 +0000 UTC]

yes I like the contrast in that one, it doesnt look singed

wow that is old school. i switched to acrylic because of the drying issue but my love is oils... the luminosity the colors... its just not the same

"there i fixed it"

yes that was a weird era of my life, about 10 years ago. but then all parts of my life are pretty weird.

the SMELL of oil paints = intoxicating. my other artist friend thought it was hilarious that i'd carry around a tiny tube at times just to smell. and the colors are unmatched. but acrylics dry NOW. it's really a toss up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SimmotoSyoshiko In reply to JesCallie [2013-07-09 20:40:37 +0000 UTC]

I find that acrylic can be harder to work with because it dries so fast you cant to the same glazes or blending. and how can you get any work done with youre laughing at the bottle of retarder?

I know, my room use to reek when I was a teen my mom would come in and say "OMG serene! it smells in here' and I'm like" hmm, I dont smell anything "

haha. "it smells GOOD in here."
