Stunning work!

fave the journal article to give your art more exposure (if you wish to), and don't forget to look at all the others!

The colour you used in this print is very nice, reminds me of Chinese porcelain
I like the amount of detail you put into this, and the different mark-making techniques, yet the bird itself is easily recognisable a charming print

I'd like to have this in my room.

I think the blue definitely makes it effective It took me a second to work out where the bird was, but I actually enjoyed looking for it ^^

This is a really interesting image, well done!

I would recommend using a hotplate or something to warm your lino up slightly before starting to carve, this will help you to vary the type and thickness of line. Using a narrow tool helps too, or one that has a deeply v-shaped blade which can do both fine and thick lines.

simone4390 In reply to hphnstories [2011-09-12 21:20:21 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I don't have much experience in cutting lino's and I did not know warming the lino could make it easier. But I did use a set of narrow and less narrow tools.

Warm it until it's like freshly baked bread...or so my print teacher taught me.

I really like the way the bird takes a second to pop out. Random question, why did you go with blue?

Thank you. I printed this lino in several colours but I like the pure blue colour best.

You know, I've been meaning to. It's something I really need to try, and I actually have most of the stuff. I just need to get some cutting material. Apparently, the only place around here that carries appropriate linoleum is the overpriced art store, so. ONE DAY. I just love the style. Woodcuts, too. Great stuff.

simone4390 In reply to Geiru [2011-05-22 17:07:58 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. This is a lino print. I cut into the linoleum, rolled printing ink on the linoleum and pressed the linoleum on paper to print.

You should sharpen your cutting tools, some of those edges are a bit dull. It's either that or there was too much ink on the roller. *stares* I really like it though. It's interesting how you from working in negative space to positive in the foreground.

Yes it's nice to do lino printing
especially when you are also experienced in working with stained glass, I think

MedaGritzko In reply to simone4390 [2010-09-03 22:20:46 +0000 UTC]

There is an artist who did both: Georges Rouault [link]
I did some linos at school, but there was so much pressure to make every print identical. There is something beautiful about the paint that unevenly transfers to paper. I remembered that when I saw your lino-print.

Georges Roualt. Never heard of. Nice and impressive work. Solid, quiet and a bit dramatic. Thanks for the link.
You are right about printing and unevenly transfer of paint.

Wonderful print! I love that there are lines everywhere but they dont detract from the focus image of the bird.
