Description A Commission for a friend's friend's mother for mother's day...
i was given just six days to create something epic, natural looking and beautiful.
Specifics given: cheerful, tranquil, peaceful atmoshpere.

(C) copyright simon park 2013. no copying/redistributing etc.
prints available.

The Old Trade route.....
years had passed since the great schizm, and mankind was once again flourishing and rebuilding, this time over greatly changed terrains, and increasingly paths had to be created and maintained for trading to be possible.
fifteen years of manual work went into converting this 600-foot stepped waterfall into a passable area for trade elephants, trekking from what was once known as india to modern-day Eurona (originally eastern europe)
Now this amazing spot is used mainly by travellers on foot or by horse, looking for unsurpassed beauty spots in the Eurona wilds.
Since the dawn of clean, sustainable airships, such trade routes have become more a tourist industry, and many of these beauty spots must be kept guarded so no thieves can take up residence in such obvious ambush spots.

drawn using pigment ink fineliner, biro pen, pencil crayons, and a rubber for fading effects.
comments/ faves/watches/ commissions welcome.

as ever i will try to answer all comments but i cannot even begin to answer faves, so thank you so much to everyone for the increasing support. love to all and have a wonderful day!

thanks so much!

indeed, this one seemed to draw itself once I had gotten the bones down on paper.

I always loved the ones like this, where its so easy to just flow with the image and let it become without too much effort.

that said, it did take a week to complete lol

aww, wow! thank you! that means so much to me-

not surprisingly, my pagan -Β Buddhist ways and odd personality mean I don't have many "real" friends...

it truly warms the heart to know people like me for who I am. may you have a wonderful day my friend!

look forward to conversing in future too

And the higher power granted me additional life !Β Β  First and foremost, we are Artists (: !Β  then it comes the rest, In all truth I tell you, I don't have much two legged friends, not in the virtual world or the real one ... but, I do have a faithful friend, she keeps secrets, never envies or betrays me and accepts me for who I am... she loves me unconditionally , listens to me attentively, and never expresses an unwanted opinion, she just Is Lilith ... my lovely dog ! (: Β  This is the best friend man can have ~Β Β  too sad we have bothered toΒ  learned soΒ  little about life formsΒ  that are not human...who made us believe we are at the top of the TotemΒ  pole ? such an elitist self centered breed we are. I have allowed myself to vent a little haha (:Β  I so look forward to conversing with you in the future... Happy HolidaysΒ  (: ~

awww what a cute ickle doggie! as a general rule,Β I don't like chiwhawas (this word I have never even tried to spell-I didn't know I couldn't spell it until now! how strange.)Β because most owners don't treat them properly. they are so small, they need the same sort of care as a properly trained rat. and I say this in a good way, I onceΒ had a rat and it was properly trained, by me. but someΒ dog owners that take these poor little things out in any weather... theyΒ are irresponsible.

I know they are so cute, they really are. just.... I like BIG dogs

Hahaha (:Β  could not stop laughing as I read your reply, thanks you've made my day ! Blame Paris Hilton for the chihuahua's trend nah, well, they are good for kids and owners who, like me, live in tiny flats ...with tiny furniture, and tiny everything ! (: haha Happy Holidays ! I hope you hadΒ  a good one

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

simonpark81 In reply to BobCatD [2013-12-30 12:09:20 +0000 UTC]

lol yeah how cute they are kind of balances out the annoying-ness of the rat-dogs.

that said, you certainly wont get mice in your house with one of these little beasties roaming around.

holiday went well so far, kids enjoyed themselves greatly.

quiet holiday is the best kind for me

Rofl beasties ?? Lilith is Hardly one ! (: I do fear thou, that if there was vermin such rats and so, they would so totally devour my tiny dog !

wow, thank you sir! from you this is a true accolade.
my first draft is slowly becoming another picture altogether, but I thought it looked too powerful and not pretty enough
im enjoying scenery pictures these days, but I think may surreal-ize them a little

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tolkyes In reply to simonpark81 [2013-04-24 01:36:30 +0000 UTC]

You're entirely welcome.
Personally, I always enjoy art, music, literature, movies and even comedy a little more if there's at least a subtle touch of the surreal added.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

simonpark81 In reply to Tolkyes [2013-05-02 15:05:49 +0000 UTC]

I kind of agree, depends if the subject matter is trying to put itself across as surreal.
I think movies and games are nowhere near imaginative enough these days,
seems that the mainstream is becoming bogged down with gritty realism, high def graphics and massive special effects-
which is a shame, considering how well we were doing before. imagination used to mean a lot more than it does today. on the other hand, surrealism isn't dying, its becoming more imaginative-its just getting pushed further out of the public eye than ever before.

yes, indeed we do have these amazing panoramic sceneries... but to get out to them we must either own a car, hike 100+miles or pay through the nose for trains.... its shameful that we claim to be the nation that takes pride in its countryside. every mountain is covered in farmer's fields, every wood is managed and has paths intertwined throughout.
one day soon I will be going to wales, that's where my family is from. or rather, my mothers side.
my fathers side were pure blood scots, and so I think I should visit Scotland too sometime soon...
fingers crossed
