Contest Entry for 's character design contest. Had to do what we pictured for her character Nikita.Her description makes me think that she's a high end, classy gal, kind of a bitch (literally), is a bit of a Daddy's girl, and is very invested in her family "business."
OUTFIT 1:
I made the fur coat based on something off of a designer clothes website (www.neimanmarcus.com), something that both covered the "haha, you can't afford this ever" look, and the "Russian spy/mafia" look. Underneath the coat, I picture there being a black cocktail dress (also something that you can't afford ever), which I might go back and add later, since I still have the base (on the left) saved separately.
OUTFIT 2:
I wanted to try doing something all or mostly white, and ended up with this. Had some trouble getting the boots to look the way I wanted, so they ended up being black instead. Based it on some stuff I found on a fur-lovers website, namely this piece: [link]
I'm working on the black cocktail dress, but I'm struggling to find something that works with her body type and fur color. I'll get it eventually.

You hit her personality dead on - that's exactly the kind of character she is, except she never knew her dad, or her mom for that matter. She was raised by "family". :>
Loving the outfit - extremely mob-boss-like, definitely suits her. I also like the fact you used more natural colours for the clothes and made her eyes ice blue like I specified; Everybody else seems to be making them aqua/cyan/turquoise. XD

Oh. XD I only read that her dad was a mob boss and I assumed she and him were pretty tight.
I have a couple extra outfits in the works, one's done, but I'm still working on another. I'll relink it to you after I've updated it.

Well her 'Dad' being the man who basically took charge of raising her - there's no relation and she doesn't think of him as her father, but I tend to call him her dad anyway. totallynotbecausehedoesn'thaveanameyet*cough*

Yeah, kinda. He basically saw her beat the living shit out of some of his mob-members when she was only 12, so he was like "... She could be useful." and took her in.

I admire that you made a new eye shape and pretty simple yet effective hair for her. I love characters you can get a taste of just from their design! Because I'm definitely getting the vibes you mentioned in your description. Also thumbs up for doing research, that always goes a long way

I really try to avoid doing human hair for Sonic characters, and instead try to pull off the same styles with larger shapes and quills and things. I feel that it comes off looking more natural and official that way.
And I love doing research for my drawings. I sometimes spend more time on the research than the actual drawing! Oops! XD

Anatomy! YOU HAVE IT.
Honestly, even with stylized Sonic characters people seem to always botch anatomy. The first thing I noticed about this? Proper arm length. Well done, sir.
And the art's looking spankin' too.

Proportions sell a design. I've said this over and over about certain Sonic artists on the Book, but I always get ignored. Bates, Yardley and Peppers look so good because they have proportion control. Heck, I think Fry actually had pretty good control last time he drew. But Butler failssss... My complaint about Butler isn't about his style, but his horrible proportions. They make me want to punch kittens.

I think Butler's problem is that he doesn't know how tall he wants to make the characters. So they end up shrinking and growing a lot between issues. I haven't gotten 237 yet and haven't seen the artwork, but I was alright with him doing the Wolf Pack in Reigning Cats and Dogs. They're a few of the only characters where I think the human anatomy looks alright. The rest of the cast though should stay with SEGA-proportions.
