Description
I used to try to draw Boss at least once every year, since I made her when I was 9 and first got into drawing. A fun way to track my drawing habits.
But let's see... last time I drew her was... 4 actual years ago.

Well, she's still a cutie! I remember my first Sonic OC...
She was a purple Hedgehog named Katie and she was Sonic's daughter from the future.

It's 2018. Sonic fan characters are cool during even-numbered years, right? No, wait, maybe that's the Olympics. Oh well. (But wait! Sonic goes to the Olympics! Haha, nailed it! Wait, is he not going this year? Oh, heck, I'm counting it anyway.)
Nice sense of gesture and expression. It's understated, but still has that sense of aliveness. That's one thing I admire about your art: Even with poses you end up not liking (I've seen you describe them as "generic" a couple times) you still do a good job conveying a sense of balance, weight, and fluidity. (Er, that's not to imply that you shouldn't like this pose because it's generic, or anything like that.) I mean, Boss is floating in a white void right now but you can still feel how she's resting her weight even without being able to see whatever she's sitting on.
I don't know, maybe that's a basic art skill and I come off as really ignorant for talking it up like this, but it's something that's eluded me so far, so I find a nice grasp of gesture to be really impressive.
I like the color scheme, too. Only thing I'd change is the bright orange lining of the jacket/boots. Just seems to grab the eye too much for being such small slivers tucked away in what ought to be unimportant, shady places.

Hmm, yeah, I see what you're saying about the orange interiors. Maybe I should've pushed it more towards blue.
I'm trying to break myself out of the habit of having characters doing random "cool" poses, and instead have them actually doing something. Even for little doodles like this. It breathes more life and personality into the image. Kind of like how everyone enjoys the new Sonic Channel artworks where the characters are doing activities better than "Sonic floating and giving thumbs up #4378234." And it's not really doing much more work, just doing a bit more thinking.
