that's how it came out.. function of the wind and long exposure.. worked well in most of them.. though I might want to try on a "windless day" to see how much detail I can capture..

narniamushroom02 In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-27 11:29:44 +0000 UTC]

that would be a neat idea to see what difference the wind makes in a photo

How does IR actually work dude, because i have no idea.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

simple-squamous In reply to flame2fire [2008-09-27 03:21:32 +0000 UTC]

well you put a filter on your camera (I use a HOYA R72 IR filter) that only allows certain wave-lengths of the electromagnetic spectrum to hit your camera sensor.. emissions from the near IR (Infrared) portion of the EMS (IR that you can still see.. somewhat)..

the problem is that most modern cameras have aggressive anti-IR filters inside of them so you have to expose the image for a bit longer then you have to for visible light photography..

Infrared exposes predominantly in red tones.. so you have to do a bit of work to achieve the final products you see here..

plenty of good resources on the web to explain the how’s and why’s of IR photography.. quite simple really.. half way there just by buying the filter and a tripod..

cheers!

Eric

I would get yours through ebay.. I did.. and for a 72mm was only like 80 bucks brand new still sealed in the package.. about half price of what you would pay at Ritz camera..

cheers!

hehe I used your phrase.. "x-rayed tree".. as you already noticed.. I agree.. I like the more non standard ones like this and others.. like "demon tree".. not so much the white and blue ones..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gwenthyr In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-27 08:48:37 +0000 UTC]

Well "standard" is one of the words I treat as suspicious, as well as "normal"
You create whole new world here, don't you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

simple-squamous In reply to Gwenthyr [2008-09-30 18:56:49 +0000 UTC]

thank you so much darling

.. I have my own concepts of what standard and normal is.. sorry that I imposed them on our conversation so rudely.. that was a such a "typical" thing to do.. wasn't it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gwenthyr In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-30 19:09:14 +0000 UTC]

Well that's ok I just wanted to let you know that it's ok with me to like so called "abnormal" things
I simply don't think that forced standards of society work for everyone and I believe that diversity is one of the things that makes world so beautiful
I do observations of what others think about as "normal" and try to use the word in means they use
My goal in life is to understand - the more the better. So feel free to talk to me about anything without worry. If I won't understand I will ask, but you can't possibly offend me if you really don't want to.

simple-squamous In reply to Gwenthyr [2008-09-30 19:28:36 +0000 UTC]

true.. I am glad people still appreciate diversity.. otherwise I would have been locked up a long time ago..

I know what you were getting at.. I was just "pulling your leg"

student of understanding eh? me too..

hehe I never offend anybody.. that's part of the problem.. don't cha think?

thanks for the offer dear friend

eric

Gwenthyr In reply to simple-squamous [2008-09-30 19:58:10 +0000 UTC]

yeah, sounds familiar to me It's not so bad to be locked up for a while though, if it's not among really heavy cases, it gives another interesting point of view

I am glad there are more such students

hn... I was used to offend everyone around me when I was a child. Now I am just sarcastic sometimes - I just can't stand overimportant idiots. The irony is that they often even don't reckognize that they are being offended... Trust me, it's only waste of energy. There are even polite ways how to not let others stomp at you. Why do you think it's a part of problem that you never offended anyone? I think it's a good trait.

simple-squamous In reply to Gwenthyr [2008-09-30 22:33:24 +0000 UTC]

I know plenty of idiots that think too much of themselves..

well it is a problem that I never offend anybody because sometimes crappy people deserve a little offense to make them think twice.. our society has become too polite to punish the bad people.. it's always nobody's fault when something terrible happens..

cheers darling

Gwenthyr In reply to simple-squamous [2008-10-02 11:30:07 +0000 UTC]

Well offending and teaching a lesson are two different things. I am quite young but in my life I never saw anyone actualy think twice after offense. Maybe think about how to punch you, but not about why they were offended in the first place. It requires intelligence and if someone is intelligent then it works better if you can make them see how stupid they are. (without intelligence you can do anything and it would be useles) But I must admit that I know personaly only two people who are able to do it. When you offend people then they are angry at you but if they feel how stupid is their doing then they are angry at themselves... but that's only my opinion and my observation, I am always open to discussion.
Our society is too big to function properly and people are afraid to have responsibility which goes with their work. Humans remind me of lemmings sometimes...

Be well

simple-squamous In reply to Gwenthyr [2009-04-30 06:36:15 +0000 UTC]

intelligence.. pretty rare in most people I agree.. hmm yes.. most people are stuck in animalistic reactionary mode.. easily manipulated.. easily angered.. easily satisfied.. not to be bothered by thought.. speaking is merely an outlet to vent passing binary emotion (happy/angry).. the louder someone is the less I hear them..

cheers!

Gwenthyr In reply to simple-squamous [2009-05-05 07:20:08 +0000 UTC]

It's not always bad to be easily satisfied you know? People who are too hard to satisfied are bigger problem. there must be ballance, extrems are bad on both sides.
But yes... sometimes I am amazed how can some pople survive being so brainless
And I dislike loud people in general...
