Beautiful lighting and nice pose he has. I would suggest perhaps trying to get a simpler background, maybe just all green grass or something? Would bring more focus to the lovely dog.

Razz is a very handsome boy! And you gotta love that all-white collar! lol

Personally, I am not into the show scene...too political, too work-intensive. Plus, I personally think the very best job a dog can have is to be a beloved companion...a pet. Milo, my blue merle Aussie, gets plenty of exercise of course, but I am sure he'd love a run at herding. He's got the drive in him pretty strongly, even though he came from show lines (his father does both).

Oh wow. This is a beautiful Aussie. The short prominant nose, the mixed blue and brown eyes, and his fur splotching brings out the full blue merle effect. Is he a show dog, breeding dog, herding dog, or pet?

well i bought him as a show dog from a breeder in California, but after he hit abotu 10months i couldn't get a class placement with him can't figure out why but now we are working on some agility (he absolutely LOVES it and has pretty much NO idea what herding is so this works out well for him ^^).

Thats great! Yashi, my black tri, was bought and meant to be a show dog, BUT The breeders forgot to mention the fact that the family he came from has a genetic disorders that cuases their legs to shake constantly. So I wouldnt have been able to put him in show, and we had to nuetur him becuase it wouldnt do for the genetic disorder to continue. His brother has the same disorder. I do now have two blue merle puppies that are pets at my grandmother's, but in about a month or two will start training. I hope to get at least both of them up to contest standards, and my long legged one into jumping asap. D:

it sucks what some breeders will pass on. but then again there are less obvious ones, like my friend sandy, within the past two years she's had some AMAZING litters, but they all focused off the bloodline of this one bitch "mattie" and she just found out that she had a genetic congenital eye disorder of some sort, so now the whole line can't be bred

there was one dog i used to compete against whose back legs would shake relentlessly, but i never really knew why...

i love competing in agilit ^^ i used to do it with my border collie but she was a rescue and at four she was in really bad pain after an event despite what we tried so she just plays with our chickens and runs around the yard now poor girl, she was a born agility star ^^. i have high hopes for my razz though ^^ i just have to get him back into some classes ^^.

Oh wow! I never did a course run. I wanted to give it a try, but having no experience in it and no mentor to lead me through them, it kinda ended bad. I seem better on the jumping courses and the obeidence aspects of contests.

Your Border Collie sounds precious. Do you have any pictures of her up in your gallery or scraps? What event did she get her injury in? What kind of pain?

They let a shaker into a contest? I didnt think that would fly at all with a judge. :/

And yes. I really hate when breeders do things like that. Although they blame the fact on a genetic disorder, I believe something might have happened at the birthing, becuase they bred that bitch at least twice a year. Thats horrid.

yeah that's not good for any bitch, although i think it's just another

she didn't get injured in a contest, but she was puppy mill and i think she just has really bad genes (she's also really fat despite changing her diet and lots of exercise) so we just try and keep it as low as we can. she would just wake up sore in the mornings, then work out of it a bit by the end of the day. now she's sore in the morning, slowing down, and a little sore at night, but we've got her on glucosamine which has been making a difference abit. and yes, i do have pictures of her on my site ^^ two i think...

yeah the only thing i didn't like about running a course was that it went too fast!!! we were only in novice, but she'd run a standard under forty which was really good for her ^^ on new years we took second in an open jumpers class by running 28 ^^ i took some good classes with a great instructor so we had a really good start ^^.

Thats odd. She wouldnt have weak bone structure would she? Not at her age at least.

Thats cool that she run that fast on a course, and as a beginnger too!

she's definitely got all the stuff that makes her a border collier that's for sure ^^

she's eight now, but still, at four she as showing way more pain than she should have. she's been checked out, never had her hips x-rayed but as far as a normal pet is concerned the vet hadn't sent up any red flags. i didn't expect much from a puppy mill dog though. her pedigree is far from impressive and might be completely fake for all i know. she was also first owned by a single mom who lived in an apartment with two infants and worked two full time jobs...poor girl probably only went outside to go to the bathroom s she's got a couple mental issues too, but once u've got her doing something she's set that she's going to get it done, and as fast as she can ^^ lol i love her spirit ^^ and she still get's around just fine so we just try and keep the activity to a lower level. she goes for long walks, sometimes jogs and as long as she cools down and get's her glucosamine she's usually not too bad the next day.

You managed to train a border collie from another household?! Oh wow! I dont think I would be able to accomplish that. We rescue dogs from other households and off the street, but those that seem to have potential cant get it trained into them. Good pets. Not good runners. The pit bull I found on the side of the highway had been beaten and cut severly in places. I managed to get him healed fully and trained up. No more than a pet when he was found. But a barker none the less. Used to drive my neighbors wild with his night carosing. ^^ He and another pit bull of mine are now working dogs at a lumber yard. I check up on them, and they seem very well. He still has trouble trusting humans though. But to get a house warmed collie to do contest? Thats very interesting. And very well done of yourself. Never had her hips X-rayed? Was there anything simply wrong or was she just and acher?

just achy. she's careful about getting up and laying down, sometimes when she's had extra exercise especially she moves slower or just doesn't get up if she has too. there was never a specific problem other than probably the last show i took her too, my grandmother has steep stairs and the evening after the trial she went to follow me up and screamed then looked up at me pitifully from the bottom of the stairs. i slept downstairs with her that night. but other than that really we just see her slowing down and sometimes being careful about certain movements. we take her to the vet minimum once a year and he checks her all out, feels her joints and everything and she get's a general clear bill of health so we don't look too much in it. (and yeah she's been tested for lyme over and over again and never had it). i really think it's just poor genes and maybe a slowely developing arthritis.

and border collies pretty much absorb everything! lol they're wicked easy to train. they really are some of the most intelligent dogs i have ever seen, and retraining might be a challenge because they are also stubborn when they have something set in their heads, but she hardly had any training with a KILLER toy drive. she could get beaten with a stick and she would NOT take her eye off that damn ball ^^ talk about a single track mind ^^ i love her though she's wicked intelligent and i have to watch her because she WILL run herself to death -_-. she's a tough cookie though

and last i heard pitbulls can be pretty difficult to train. i hear they've got a thick skull ^^ and a wicked stubborn personality ^^. With my border it as easy. go over this jump and i'll throw the ball for you didn't take long to sink in ^^ and once she figured out "the game" she added the speed herself!! (could NOT WAIT for me to throw the ball ^^ lol) i took too long apparently so she'd book it ahead of me. she'd freak out watching the other dogs run but i swear to god she memorized the course. i've had her on occasion run ahead of me and take the correct sequence of obstacles until she hit one that would slow her down enough for me to catch up ^^ something i had to work on if we were ever going to hit higher levels, but we never got there unfortunately. she was a barker too, if she lost sight or forgot where she was going she'd spin in circles barking like a maniac (something she ONLY did on a course). she loved it and it killed me to take it away from her but i put her health first. i'll let her go over some eight inch jumps or a really low teeter and some short poles every now and then and she just seems so happy ^^

Oi pit bulls are a pain. And they take pain pretty easily. I used shock collars on them to get them to stop barking at certain times, but the moment the collars come off they just start it all over again. So their pretty intelligent and catch on quickly.

Its interesting to apply the contests as a game. And its probably the easiest way to get them to understand it. I was watching the Fly dogs today. Did you get to see them? Guiness (A red Aussie) had some very good catches and varieties but the overall performance was under. He was up a dog named Tag, a border collie mix. Amazing jumps but slow turner. I missed the agility performance though. Had to finish some pictures for a friend and a designer dress =.= . I guess I will just google up the stats today.

yeah i don't have much time to watch tv these days -_- sounds fun though ^^ i feel bad, my agility instructor has been begging me to come back to class and i really want to go but i'm trying to balance school, working enough to pay off my bills and save money to be able to move to florida this summer, and getting all my stuff together. i just don't see adding in an agility class fitting into my schedual too well .
