Description This time I compared two photos of Astrid: the first photo is from "Riders of Berk" and the second is from the movie.

I made another 2 "confronting" creations.

It doesn't even look like HAIR in the show! It looks like a weird rubber wig!

is it just me, or does Astrid have really big Boobs?

Don't worry, it's not just you. I find her body very weird created. A girl as thin as her does not have so big boobs while at the same time having such a nice bottom. Trust me, that is not the reality of how a girl's body looks like, especially not when we're talking about a 15-years-old.

Awesome comparison ย
I was not sure if they had used different models for the series, though I suspected as much.

I think the only difference is that "Riders of Berk" is a show with new episodes every week. They don't have as much time to animate every episode like they did the movie. So they little details are going to look different.

I like them either way, though. x3

look at how the hair covers her left eye. Also look at her headband. The items in it, look more jem like in the movie than they do the show

I relatively don't see much difference in Astrid in both the series and film. The only difference I've noticed so far is that her hair looks a bit more platinum in the series.

SoulsOfTearDrops [2013-02-17 02:00:49 +0000 UTC]

It'd take too much time to add and animate detail for the show.

ja-c25 In reply to SoulsOfTearDrops [2013-04-12 02:23:36 +0000 UTC]

It would also cost too much money for "movie - quality" animation, too

chill13 [2012-12-12 20:12:45 +0000 UTC]

The biggest thing I've noticed is the texture in her hair. In t he movie it was lovely and looked more like hair. In the show it looks like she's got spaghetti on her head.

Be', era impossibile che mantenessero lo stesso livello qualitativo (altissimo!). Ma hanno fatto un buon lavoro, con il budget a disposizione. Pensavo molto peggio E invece non รจ per nulla male.

Y'know I think it's mostly the shading and the lack of detail on the hair...and her missing freckles. At least her voice actor is the same I woulda been depressed if the voices of Hiccup and Astrid were replaced

I like watching the show but I also hate it because all the characters seem...off. All the painstakingly little details they went through to make the movie look epic are missing in the show and you notice them but at the same time you have no idea what they are...Even looking at these pictures I can pick out a few things buuut there's still some things that I notice but can't see if that makes any sense.

Maybeawriter [2012-08-23 22:03:33 +0000 UTC]

...You know, don't hate me everyone, but I'm not exactly Astrid's biggest fan. I think Hiccup could do better, but since Astrid is like the only girl in the village...

My sister says she wants to pair him with Merida from Brave, and you know, I'm inclined to agree with her. And we haven't even seen Brave yet!
And yes, I know, Rapunzel gets paired with him like crazy. But I prefer shipping her with (slightly younger) Megamind. Don't judge me.
(Don't think for a second that Megamind/Roxanne and Eugine/Rapunzel aren't my favorite couples EVER, though. Because they are. But if we're talking crossovers...)

DuranRavenhold [2012-08-14 23:24:02 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much the same, but her face in Riders has softer lines and edges. And frankly that is probably a result of lower render quality and or poly count, which makes sense. Because HTTYD was a movie the render quality and poly count didn't matter, they had infinite time to complete the models, renders, animations and so on. With the series they are under a much tighter budgie and dead line. The sheer number of people is probably a great deal less too. So frankly, the quality of the TV show is actually top notch. The next level is the Big Screen. So, yeah.

I've heard horrible things about the Kung Fu Panda show... (Although, I happen to not like Madagascar much and actually prefer Penguins.)

In my opinion, the KFP show is nice... And I do not like so much the Penguin show. Contrarily, I LOVE Madagascar! (today I saw the third movie and I think is amazing)

Thanks for posting the link and this compare. Of course we knew that the TV version would be different, for a start, wayyyy brighter light levels and colors in most scenes. The same as Kung Fu Panda came out.

There are some newer effects that were not available when the film was made, especially some fire effects.

But a animated film or weekly series does the same thing, telling a story, and the first preview episodes of this seem really good in that aspect.

Is it me or is the TV Toothless actually looking better in some scenes? Maybe they ramped up the cuteness somehow.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

SinbadHiccup In reply to Rekalnus [2012-08-12 17:28:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I agree; The TV shows are always less detailed than the original movies.
But I think that this show is made really well!
And I think Toothless is prettier in some scenes!

Oh, and you're welcome for everything
