Description 12" x 12" Charcoal on paper. Staying on theme with mood, I found this drawing of another Gorilla female at the Zoo. I always feel at peace watching them. This was a charcoal demo for the students and took roughly 30-45 minutes. I wanted to show them just how dark you can go with charcoal with the hopes of inspiring them to put the pencil away and let loose with a more chaotic medium.

i remember when my teachers introduced me to charcoal, I think it was the first time i really enjoyed getting dirty! The rich darks you can get and beautiful grays you can gray from erasing the charcoal is a beautiful thing.....

Excellent rendition! I had a brief stint with charcoal - having to plan out the lines beforehand, good fun

Thanks. Thats the beauty of charcoal--you can easily hide sketch lines.
