Weβre nearly propelled out the frame by that determined, searing stare. This powerful, perpendicular trail - insured by the logo above it and the horizontal line of the left arm below it - intersects a diagonal line created by the left hand and right foot (a nice syncopation) that coaxes us back, down to the southwest corner of the frame, back up the left side guided by the strong vertical of the pipe, to the highlighted head and eye(s) to begin again. Exhilarating; dangerous to flirt with leaving the frame; we might not have come back.
But thatβs whatβs going on here β danger and tension. This woman is about to do something: we see it in her hands, in the muscularity implied by the dilated blood vessels, her taut skin and in the almost feral expression and posture β her headβs slightly tilted as if sheβs getting another angle on what sheβs looking at, analyzing, processing.
The tension is ratcheted up by the various conversations of texture going on β velvet and concrete and cast iron and skin. The light background pulls us deeper into the frame but weβre also compelled by the nexus of her thighs in the foreground, dead center in the picture compositionallyβ highlights on the hands, feet and face create βsatellitesβ swirling around this hidden center. Perhaps this is a thematic center as well; lotβs of artists have posited this as the real power in the universe.

It was just me in a beautiful gown in the walkway beside the hotel in Times Square. There are some other shots from this set that haven't been posted yet with some men who were drinking on a bench. I can't wait to get those!!!
