i'm sorry it's taken me soooo long to get round to looking at your stuff!!
i had exams last week so the weeks coming up to that i was studying heaps. And i've been busy all this week [[oh and sick yesterday..]] but now i'm finally getting around to looking at the build up of deviations.. i had 231!!

I see the more drained life bit from your friend more so than you. I say that because your eyes are wide and your head is tilted a bit. Those things are mostly associated with attitude, and that is an emotion as you know. Im glas that you showed a bit more of the hair, it breaks away from all the contrast that your doing, though at the same time added in a mid-toned value to your photo. I think for this one just for the whole aesthetic and conceptual appeal I would not have done this outside, or I would have waited untill it is darker. Im sure that you know this already but when you are outside and you have alot of light that should give your subject and an over all emotional feel of 'joy' or 'happyness' through out the photo. Now if you were trying to callenge that baced on the contemporary social beliefs I can see where that would have worked, but I don't think that was your full intent. (or was it?)
Try and watch where your horizon line falls in a photo of people, having it not be centerd is a good thing, but having it fall on a major part of the face could be just as bad if you want people to look at the face as a whole.
Just somthing to think about, on your face it is a bit blown out in a few places, thats not a bad thing all the time, and the contrast of the tops you and your friend have on hide that well, but that wont always be the case. Also if you already have alot of contrast in the photo with the person, having the background be blown or washed out might not be the best. (takes attention away from what the focus should be)
One last thing that I have for you is strength and clarity. Photos that show alot of contrast in them will grab people and have the look at it, though becuase parts are so heavy on contrats the clarity goes down.. im not saying that this is such a big problem here, though there is some of that going on with all the bright spots, just making sure I said it as a side note.
