Description Yes, the rumours are true, I'm finally gonna bite the bullet and do a comic.

It's called through the mirror darkly and is a fancomic of the DC persuasion with a Wonder Woman/Batman shippy going on in it.

First off is Superman's redesign because i think his canon outfit is STUPID and i can redo it coz it's called artistic licensing.

Not much i can change on the classic Superman look though so i've pretty much just changed the stitched on S shield to a big metal plated one that hangs on his HUGE chest and made his cape one of those off the shoulder dealios. Got rid of the pants over the tights and changed it to some arrows to 'emphasise his masculine lumps' (don't ask), boots are pretty much the same and, while you can't tell the diff now, i actually ripped off the sleeves of his jumper and gave him some snazzy red sparring gloves instead.

Everyone always portrays him as this good 'aw shucks, ma'am' all-American boy who just happens to be able to lift continents if he wants which is all well and good but it's a bit naff, to be honest. So i was going the more...awe inspiring almost God-like route with this, which is reflected in Metropolis itself (if i ever take on the hair raising project of drawing an entire city) which will kind of be the American Shangri-La, if you will.

Next on the list is Batman, which i had OODLES of fun redoing, even if it was uber frustrating trying to get the exact look i wanted, which was somewhere between Urban Grunge and Steampunk. I think i managed it.

Out goes the super-sleek neoprene/kevlar batsuit and in comes the combats, muscle shirt and body armour. I wanted his suit really grounded in reality as much as possible. So his utility belt isn't as teeny tiny compact as it was and has crap hanging off it like you wouln't beleive, including stunners, tear gas, a flare gun, a pony bottle (a very small oxygen tank that spelunkers usually use i think)...condoms (well he IS always prepared), and that's why it looks more like a climbing harness, coz if the boy's gonna be hanging from it, he's gonna want something a little more secure than a flimsy dayglo yellow belt. His cowl has been replaced by a kind of hockey helmet and a masquerade mask over it, because he does have a bit of the theatre about him (and i did manage to resist the urge to turn him into the Gotham Phantom of the Opera, but only just). Then i just had to add his tatty poncho/cape deal and we were done (can you tell i've been watching Final Fantasy?).

Yeah, my sister took one look at this and lisped (she's just had her tongue pierced) 'Is there a war on i don't know about?' and that was the EXACT response i wanted. My Batman's locked in a one man war against the frickin world. He's a bit younger than canon, still finding his way and honing his technique so that's why his suit isn't as perfect as the comic or film's Batdude.

My Gotham is Metropolis' opposite, the Met might be Shangri-La but Gotham is the Seventh Circle of Hell. They do a hell of a tourist business, i gotta tell ya.

Last, but not least, would be Wonder Woman. Here i was going for...well, i don't know really. Something a bit retro, a bit thirties glam, because, she did first appear in WWII (i think, her battle cry was 'keep 'em flyin', boys!' and i think she might just have fallen in love with the flapper style. The point of Wonder Bits (to me) seems to be that she's this improbably perfect woman, with the figure and the hair and the cheekbones...anyway, I though't i'd give her an outfit that was a little more feminine and less ridiculous than the Swimsuit number she's been parading in for the last fifty years or so.

So the red top, gold girdle and blue bottoms theme is still there it's just a bit more...probable shall we say. Her top is most definitly made of cloth instead of the usual weird pleather type stuff, her golden WW is replaced with the eagle (in keeping with her Greek warrior woman heritage) and the star-spangled knickers are replaced with a short skirt which will be coloured with stars. Next, i couldn't resist giving her fishnet stockings lined with white ribbon and hold up garters and finally her high heeled boots which i just put in there to meddle with. I was originally gonna have stilletos but i liked these better.

If you look real close you can see the triple Goddess aspect in her tiara with the pentagram and the two crescent moons on either side. Also, i turned her indestructible bracelets into manacles, it occurs to me that Greek Heroes always tend to get a pretty raw deal and that Diana being chosen to be Wonder Woman might not actually have been much of a choice thing on her part.

Okay, so, after the longest artist's note in history, i think that's it.

Now i just have to ruin it by trying to colour it.

Uber.

exploring will be done, i can assure you, as well as certain aspects of it being...utilised.

Well, he DOES say that he's prepared for ANYTHING.

And if i do, eventually, get this thing up and running then you'll get to see the rest of the League characters too. Redesigning everything, dude!!
