When I looked at your picture for the first time one name came up in my head....Ashley Wood!
It looks good, I really adore Wood and I think you are heading in the right direction. But you also have your own style in there, somewhere deep in the "Ashley Wood school"

I really like the way this was done. Especially the eyes being in the dark, having this almost hypnotic effect when you look at them. I feel drawn in by his eyes and he on his part is frozen in his own thoughts. It has a mood of darkness, despair, no hope.

The mood is brilliant and dark, his face looks as if it's etched from stone. His hair is neat looking also, the way it's pure black and flying up over from some wind. I like the little spirits in the background, too.

There is no question that HPX and sparth are my speedpaint idols... I've watched HPX speedpaint in person and it blew me away like nothing else... he can do full and rich environments in like 5 minutes, and he does them on a little graphire 2 4x5... it's sick.

Good news, Sinix, I'm finally getting Painter 9. Soon, very soon, I will be busting out crappy renditions of your artwork in my own ecclectic art style.
I like this piece a lot. You gave it a very drained feeling, especially with the eyes, and the hair reminds me of works from my sketchbooks (sketches that I should probably start posting). Highlights are just where you need them, nailed the saturation and the mood. However, I can see some rampant jaggies running along his left shoulder, although, that might be an effect you were trying to get.
Keep up the awesome work sinix, you'll be famouse in no time.

Yep, painter 9 rocks.. once you get used to the triangle'n'circle color pallette, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. And of course, the brushes rock.
