but the books shouldn't decay? i ask you this because in 500 years, the strong umidity (on the layer) and the sun may cause the perfect conditions of paper's oxidation

ah, the books are rather new. although it hasn't been talked about yet in past chapters,
(only shown few times on chapter 2) Doctor prefer to write on paper rather than typing on computer.
those are his reports containing his research on various things.
he made the paper and books from of synthetic material which stronger than ordinary paper.
(but it does decay, books with similar material from 500 years ago are mostly gone)
